Do the 2nd row seats in the R1S slide back to have more room versus the R1T? Have a Q4 R1S delivery. My toddler kicks my husbands back seat and drives him nuts. Rear seat room is one of the main things I liked about my Lightning over my R1T. Thanks in advance.

Either way, you could always put the seat in the middle?

The legroom is the same (the seat base is shorter in the S so it looks like more room between end of seat base and the back of the first row seat). The seat back angle can be changed on the S so there is more recline, so this is more comfy able for an adult but in a car seat I don’t think that would solve your issue.

Due to the low seat positioning, I find the R1S much less comfortable than the R1T when seated in the second row as a 6’4” adult. Much more of my weight is supported by my butt rather than my thighs since the seat is low and my knees are high. Additionally, the R1T rear seats are more plush than the R1S. I presume this is part of the sliding assembly requiring more space and limiting foam density. Last, R1T has stadium seats that are high up so your view out the windshield over the top of driver/passenger is much better. Had no complaints about car sickness even from those prone to it.

In short, R1S is fine. R1T is genuinely comfortable. Both lack leg room for those over 6’ I’d say and are rather tight. This isn’t your daddy’s Escalade.

Just to try to clearly answer your question yes the R1S 2nd row seats slide back. I just turned down a lightning order and it’s easily larger cabin regardless of the slide. However, the doors are larger on the R1S compared to the R1T so it’s physically easier to help buckle and unbuckle my youngest and we haven’t had kicking issues. Hope that helps happy to answer any other questions and compare them.

Edit: depending on your preorder date you may be sooner than Q4 or can get R1 shop access
