I took delivery 2 weeks ago of a 2023 quad motor large pack R1S and the vehicle has been perfect with one exception, it won’t charge.
So I get home from a week long trip which I left the car plugged in and I go for a short drive, plug the car in, and it won’t charge! When I plugged it in it would immediately error out. After trying that a couple times I decided to restart the charger and do a sleep reset with the Rivian which didn’t fix the issues. I gave costumer service a call and they gave a couple things to try but they didn’t work.
Thinking maybe it was a problem with the Rivian wall charger I went multiple other level 2 chargers that I knew worked and no luck. I gave Rivian another call and they sent me to a level 3 charger that they recommended and same thing happened, the car would immediately error and stop the charge.
After further communication with customer service they told me to leave the vehicle at the service center to be fixed.
Is this an issue that many people have experienced and if so how long has it taken for them to fix it?

I just hope they get this issue resolved soon so I can get back to enjoying this beast!

Sounds like a defective charging port. Rivian will get you fixed up. Let us know what the fix is...I am curious.

I would say not many people and very rare that L2 and L3 both are not charging as L2 is an onboard charger and L3 is direct.

Will be curious what the resolution is.

I had a similar issue.
I learned that there was a known issue regarding a defective L2 charging module from the suppliers to Rivian. Rivian had to tow my R1S back to their SC and replace the failed module and tow it back to my home.

Rivian's QC is horrible.

Update: According to the app, I learned that service will be replacing the HV Battery Fuses and Switching and the Onboard Charger.

Ok sounds like a logical course of action. Odd that both onboard charger and DCFC functions would fail at the same time.

Update: I got a call from service today and I got some bad news, they’re replacing the High voltage battery in the R1S.
I just don’t understand why this happened because the car has under 600 miles. I try to think about it like they’re working out all the bugs in my new car!
Service also said it’ll be done by next Friday so if they stay on track with timing, that means it will have been in service for 2 weeks.
Does anyone have any guesses to what a possible problem could have been with the old battery?

One week in and 450 miles and mine wouldn't charge either - also started giving me this very scary error message.
I had no issues DC fast charging, but the first time I tried to level 2 charge at home this error popped up and then every time I tried to plug in the car the charge port was red. Full reset didn't help.
Car's been in the service center for a week and on mine they said they're replacing the onboard charger.

Edit: This is a quad motor large pack, 2023

This will sound odd but has worked on 2 occasions on 2 different vehicles so worth a shot. If the failure is occurring on your L2 charging then try plugging into the included L1 charger. If it stays green let it charge a few minutes then try switching back to the L2.

I forgot to mention that in the post but I tried that too.

Got the car back in the 25th! SC could have had it ready a couple days earlier regarding the battery issue but we asked them to fix a few panel gaps and we also got the spare installed so all the issues could be fixed all at once. So far the batterys been working great. Someone told me a fuse might have melted inside the battery but I don't know if thats accurate or any details unfortunately. The R1S was in service for 26 days total and in the duration of that time i got to drive a Jeep gladiator, it puts in perspective just how great the Rivian is!
