My R1S Is in service for a few minor things and I got an R1T loaner. This is my first time driving one. It definitely has a more planted, heavier feeling (is it?), in a good way. It has the clunky frontend though when driving over minor bumps in the road. It’s almost like updates have not been applied (did not check yet). I recall having this problem early on with the R1S but one of the updates resolved this problem.

I notice a slight whining noise when I accelerate. Do other R1T owners experience this or do I have a problem child?

The only whining in my T is from me directed at the people who insist on going the speed limit in the express lane.

I have an R1S and a while back had an R1T loaner like you.

Didn't notice any major differences in motor whine. But like others said, the ride is significantly better overall. I wouldn't say more "planted" but in normal every day driving, it is smoother and more comfortable.

Other than that, I quickly realized why I picked an R1S over an R1T. Having a pickup bed was useless to me; I much prefer securing things in the trunk (even if I'm doing work things). Tossing a stroller in the bed and having it slide around was odd haha. Where else would you put a stroller in an R1T? :p

The whining may be the Bosch motors if it is a quad.
I personally like the whine. Fun to hear it!
My R1S is a quad and my whine is tasty too but very different than the R1T. ?

I just drove again and switched to conserve mode. The odd whining I hear is coming from the rear motors.

The R1T rides much better than the R1S due to the longer wheelbase. Even going to LOW height doesn't ruin the ride as it does on the R1S.
hmm…I just had an R1T loaner (built just a few months before my R1S.) I launched the hell out of it so had it in sport mode low quite a bit. Ride was very harsh, even the slightest bump was brutal.

Generally I agree that when in AP the ride is more planted in the R1T, but it wasn’t the huge difference that some people make it out to be. I’m guessing back in 2022 when they first came out the difference in ride quality was a lot bigger. Software and hardware changes on the R1S have likely narrowed the gap significantly.

What wheel/tire combo do you have on your R1S vs the loaner T?

I’m dropping my R1T off for service this Thursday and really hope I can get a loaner. The rental car process I went through when I took the R1T for its first service appointment last year was really disappointing.

Both vehicles have 22” dark sports. I got my R1S back yesterday. I think my R1S has a better ride for sure, especially over rough surfaces. The R1T I had made rough roads feel extra rough. Both were in AP mode. There were noticeable issues with my loaner R1T, clunky suspension, wobbly steering wheel at 60mph and over, wind noise and a frunk that would not close unless manually closed. Loaners are like rentals and driven hard so I may have had a bad crop. While I had the R1T I was prompted to upgrade to 2025.06 so it was up to date.

I disable auto height adjustment and turn down stability every time I drive the Dual Motor now.

When I get my next set of tires, I'll be religiously doing this from day one so my wear is even. I think Low ride height ruins the balancing of the wheels for standard ride height.

I usually leave auto height on so when I’m on the highway it lowers, less wind noise, and better handling. I did notice when I got into the R1T loaner it was set for sport mode. I set it to AP.
