R1T windshield replacement cost.

Happy thanksgiving to me. This morning went out to get in the truck. The small rock chip in the windshield spread from the top to the bottom and horizontally. I think when I preheated the cabin, the 32 degree windshield heated too quickly. (Future tip).
Got a quote for 1750. Full service to come out and replace. Does that sound reasonable? Also. Should there be anything I need to verify after replacement. I’m the middle of trip that continues on Saturday.

Sorry to read this.

The price is ok, if it includes the recalibration. In the predicament you are in, you may not have many options. No doubt a replacement at the SC would be weeks, months away.

And checking for a certified collision center, that will recalibrate, will take more time than you have.

I am not very knowledgeable in the recalibration process, but it seems to involve the ADAS(Advanced Driver Assistance System), aka cameras and sensors, so they work properly.

The windshield may not have many cameras, but our wipers also sense for rain and what-not.

I paid $1835 before sales tax for a replacement and calibration at an authorized collision place - reimbursed by my insurer.

I first booked at the nearest Safelite for chip filling but when I went out to the garage the next morning it had turned into a crack (in July, no preheating or cooling inside a relatively cool garage). The Safelite place said they couldn't recalibrate Rivians so rather than having to book a follow up SC appointment I just went to the collision place, where I’ve taken Teslas previously, for one and done service.

I had my windshield replaced by Safelite for about $850 IIRC.

However, they couldn't do the recalibration. They had me sign a document stating I wouldn't use the driver assistance features until it was recalibrated. I paid Rivian to do the recalibration for about $200.

The downside of this approach is scheduling. Safelite could schedule a couple days out, but it was about 30 days before Rivian would do the recalibration.

This was a fairly new process. My initial customer support contact at Rivian told me they wouldn't do the recalibration, but learned that it was now allowed after talking to his supervisor. It seems to be an area where Rivian's policy is changing, but they hadn't communicated it to everyone in the organization.

Just got my R1S windshield replaced for $1,666 but had to take the vehicle to the Rivian Support Center, so $1,750 for them to come to you sounds OK. Surprised they could do that though, since I was told there was significant calibration that had to be done after replacing the windshield.

My total for a '22 R1T was $1797.33. I tried to get mobile service but they said it could only be done at the SC.
