Interesting that in the article they specifically mention the R2S only, no mention of an R2T....which isn't surprising seeing that making an R2T would be pointless. Right now the R1T is a little bigger than a Tacoma and making it a Maverick makes it only appeal to a niche market.

This has also been confirmed from the Rivian website itself, which now prompts users who are visiting from overseas to choose between a "North America" and "Europe" dropdown.

The corresponding list of countries under "Europe" might indicate those countries on which Rivian will be focusing in the immediate term, namely Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. To be honest given the penetration of EVs in the Norwegian market, I was a little surprised not see Norway in the list.

So they'll be focusing on a number of left-side steering countries and one right-side? Seems like a strange decision. How easy is it to reverse the relevant gear?

Seems like a good fit. I'm no engineer, but if the R2 includes steer by wire wouldn't it make it somewhat easier to manufacture left/ right side vehicles?

Brining R2 to EU is good but a real marketshare step increase is sending R2 to China, then onto India. Probably need R3 compact SUV/truck though...

Trucks are not a thing in Europe.

"Excitement is building up for the reveal of the new Rivian R2 electric SUV on 7 March. The American EV start-up has provided us with our first snapshot of its latest model and has confirmed to Auto Express that it will be available in the UK."
Thanks for sharing. Is there an European reveal? If not there absolutely should be in every country Rivian is intending to sell in. London should be given priority and the utmost importance just becasue it's London.

I keep seeing people mention an R2T and Maverick in the same sentence and it confuses me. The R1T is already the size of a Maverick, at least my buddy's Maverick (Hybrid). Several coworkers have Tacoma's and Colorado's which are physically a bit larger. Mavericks aren't well represented in my area, so what am I missing?

I have the same thought. That is why the general consensus is that there won't be a R2T and only a R2S....which is smart. That is why it appeals to my wife. If it is the same size as a Rav4....we might pass on it when it gets closer to delivery.....we already have the Rav4 Prime.

It's a foot and a half shorter than the R1T. I would say that's significant.

In a somewhat recent interview, RJ mentioned that this would be a "global" vehicle. He also mentioned that it was designed from day one to take advantage of the $7,500 government incentive program, so expect the batteries and the raw materials to be USA sourced. That's a smart move because at this lower price point, it's very important that the R2 qualifies for the incentive program.
