Any real world testing out there?

Yours will fluctuate for your scenario but hopefully my situations will give you a general idea.Any real world testing out there?
I wouldn’t jump to that conclusion. I haven’t had a set of 20s to test. Those results could be different based on my driving habits. So without aero wheels....21s Range is similar to that of 20s....
My range of 21’s with aeros matches the above range of workout aero… so ymmv… literally! LolSo without aero wheels....21s Range is similar to that of 20s....
Now u got me thinking i should check mine to see how bad the scratches are ?On a related note, has anyone figured out a good way to keep the aero covers from scratching up the wheels? I had them for 800 odd miles and they are badly scratched. I expect the covers to reach bare metal in a few thousand miles.
I removed the covers for now, but would like to add them for long trips, especially if I have to depend on a lone Electrify America station without covers.
That’s wild. I didn’t see nearly the delta with the aero covers off vs. on.Yours will fluctuate for your scenario but hopefully my situations will give you a general idea.
21" w/ aero. Mixed driving - Avg 2.3m-2.7mi/Wh
21" w/o aero. Mixed driving - Avg 1.9mi-2.3mi/Wh
22" wheels. Mixed driving - Avg 2.0-2.5mi/Wh
The majority of my miles have been on the 22s at an average of 2.14mi/Wh and a projected range of 336 on conserve. The biggest surprise for me was that the 22" wheels & tires were noticeably MORE efficient than the 21" w/o aero.
If doing local the difference is minimal but if the mix of highway had a much larger impact than expected.
My best guess is when the covers are on, I’m doing large miles and usually on conserve. So while the driving is mixed I’m much easier on the throttle. That’s wild. I didn’t see nearly the delta with the aero covers off vs. on.
FYI I consistently see 2.5 in mixed driving with them off, up to 3.0 in Conserve at 65mph in the flats.
Aha - that makes a lot of sense. I’m sitting here at my desk wondering how in the world you saw a 20% hit from removing the aero covers when the wheels are still inside the arches, etc. That’s cool about the 22’s, too.My best guess is when the covers are on, I’m doing large miles and usually on conserve. So while the driving is mixed I’m much easier on the throttle.
When the covers are off, I’m typically in a - charge at home scenario and a bit more careless with speed and acceleration.
That said, the biggest surprise is the 22 comparison. I’ve done exactly one big conserve trip on those, the rest would’ve been just as careless as the 21s w/o aero.
