Here are some pics for a R1S, 10k vin. Looks a little different and I have the battery/capacitor setup, supposedly. Not sure what the deal is with the manual release cable for the hood latch, but mine was just flopping around loose between the tub and the inner fender on the drivers side. If you could not open the hood for what ever reason, then you would have to remove the plastic cover around the front of the tire (inside the fender well), to get to the cable.

The red X is the cable that feeds 12v to the battery.

Thanks for the pics! While you were in there.. did you see any obvious or easy ways to pass through the firewall? Looking to install an accessory (radar/laser detector) in the front and pass a couple wires into the cabin.

Behind the AC compressor is a grommet that has multiple vacant ports. So close-ish to the middle of the vehicle. Tougher to get to from the inside, but easy to get to from the outside. Just pull the cover by the windshield. Small wires should be fine but you have to break the seal inside the rubber tubes. On each side are the main harness grommets. Not sure if that would be usable unless you just poke a hole in the grommet. At least my vehicle is that way, so not sure it it's new.

Also this video has good footage of the dash area.

Oh and be carefull poking thru those ports. There are high voltage cables inside, behind that. You can pull the grommet to the side and have a look.
