Perhaps. Could also just be that Rivian will start to leverage the Alexa Custom Assistant capability.

This "Rivian Assistant" trademark was posted by @Hilbe today. Possibly coming to replace Alexa?

Nope. Rivian Assistant is the service chat feature in the app.

Dammit.

I really want "not Amazon" for my vehicle control. It doesn't help that it's completely useless if you don't use the exact precise wording it is wanting.

I fully believe a new voice stack is coming, just don't know if it's an in-house solution or COTS.

Alexa was a good Band-Aid(tm) solution for Rivian out the gates, but it's only mildly useful. The false positives and anaemic talk back speed make it more frustrating than useful.

I too believe they are introducing an internally developed system, mostly because of their JV with VW and the need to offer something compelling, competitive, and bespoke to other automakers.

You can hold the left scroll wheel for a few seconds to activate voice prompts if you don't want to use the wake word. That delay is annoying though which is why I usually just say "Alexa."

I always do that. It's the "exact wording required to accomplish a task" I have a problem with. I can never remember the proper wording to turn on defroster. "Turn on defroster" doesn't seem to be it.
