Rivian manual tonneau is not made well

Instead of scheduling a service center appointment to fix this (mobile service not eligible), I attempted to fix. The plastic piece holding the pin broke extremely easily. The end result looks like shit but I am able to use it again. I think I might look for a third party one when the other side fails or my duct tape and bailing wire fix fails. Any suggestions?

The plastic piece that the pin goes through broke when I tried to put a key ring through it. It was extremely brittle. That will likely work when the other side goes though.

The term "only as strong as the weakest link" fits here pretty well. Its a known issue with the Rivian manual cover. You do have a 1 year warranty so be sure to open a service ticket if youre still covered.

Mine just broke and I’m out of warranty. Will Rivian fix it or replace the whole panel and charge ?

Mine broke. Service looked at it
I expected a replacement cable. They sent an entire new tonneau. I gave the original to a machinist friend. He fixed it. I will try to get specifics.
