Edit (the caveat): the down tube clips loosen on their own after limited driving, and needs to be addressed. I am demoting this from “a winner” to “a reasonable pad that perfectly fits the truck’s tailgate but with one major flaw” … planning to modify the downtube clips to a simple double-ring strap when I get a minute.
I did not read all 8 pages of this, so it was very likely covered somewhere in there, but if you pull the strap tight and then pull it back over the buckle and secure it with the velcro lashing that is there, your straps will not loosen or slip.

I have been using the Rivian tailgate pad for mountain biking here after buying my truck (first pickup I ever owned). I went with the Rivian one as what I saw with Fox/Raceface was the straps would get in the way of the tailgate cover. Didn't want to manually move that everytime I close the tailgate.

Seems perfect for my Santa Cruz Blur TR. Love throwing the bike in the back versus the inside of my old expedition.
