Found this video this morning and first i've seen of this product and thought I would share it. I would definitely find some use for it in the future when it hits the market. Looks like a solid design.

Looks great! Just skimming the video real quick, will be keeping an eye on this. I'd be curious does it only screw into plastic? What is exact measurement with it extended, and does it interfere with the spare tire storage area?

Good questions. I was initially concerned about all the assembly and possible structural soundness, but it seems reasonably stiff. However, I don't like that it covers the rear tie downs.

I had a 2001 F150 that came with a bed extender. I mostly used it for the organization aspects since we did quite a bit of road travel in that vehicle. It was great for keeping luggage happy under the tonneau cover.

BTW: That Ford bed extender I had attached to the bed sides using an M10 bolt into a metal sleeve and had a beefy boss for connecting up the extender. It also had 6 vertical sections tying it all together.

The Rough Country website doesn't have a Rivian selection. They have committed the resources to develop products for the R1T, but haven't bother to add the selection to the website.

Eyeballing it, it would seem ~4-5" short than the bed... so ~79" (6'7")

>>>
bed that's 54.1 inches (4.5 feet) long and 51.1 inches wide. The startup company engineered several clever storage solutions to make up for this, including a tailgate that extends the loading floor to 83.6 inches (6.9 feet) when lowered.

The dreaded youtube surprise face photoshop.
I don't know why everybody's so big on sticking their face all over their YouTube channels like that. I never do that on mine. Then again, maybe that's why I only have 6k subscribers, LOL. ??

I have something like this, as a factory option on my F150. One of the most versatile accessories I've ever used.

What is a bed extender typically used for?
>>>
A bed extender is a device or accessory used in pickup trucks to increase the length or capacity of the truck's cargo bed. It is typically installed at the rear of the truck bed and extends over the open tailgate. The primary purpose of a bed extender is to create a larger space for carrying or securing longer items that wouldn't fit within the standard dimensions of the truck bed.

Bed extenders are commonly used to transport items such as lumber, pipes, ladders, kayaks, canoes, surfboards, and other oversized or lengthy objects. By attaching the bed extender and securing the load, it helps prevent the cargo from sticking out beyond the truck bed, ensuring safe and secure transportation.

Some bed extenders are designed to fold or collapse when not in use, allowing for convenient storage and easy access to the truck bed. They are often adjustable, enabling users to modify the length of the bed extender based on their specific needs.

Overall, a bed extender enhances the versatility of a pickup truck, enabling it to accommodate larger cargo while maintaining safety and stability during transport.

When pivoted to the inside position (tailgate up) these provide a divider for cargo. I used mine in this mode more than I used it to actually extend the bed (F150) but for Rivian’s short bed, I’d be using one in both “modes”
