SiriusXM to Launch in Rivian Vehicles in 2024

Does anyone know if this will be available in Canada as well? All of the verbiage on the press release, and from Rivian just state US specifically.

That’s a great question. I don’t think anyone has asked that yet and so far the only announcement was that press release from Sirius.??‍

Rivian was actually very clear from day 1 that subscription services would be a revenue stream

I finally broke and agreed to the Amazon Music Unlimited thing after Taylor Swift's incessant nagging ("you can listen to my whole catalog for only $9.99 a month") - at least with three months free! ?

It would be great if there was secret XM hardware built into Rivians all along but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I guess it is possible that they will start building the XM radio hardware into the R1 refresh, though.

Highly unlikely. It’s almost certainly going to be streaming only.

I find the whole info stack confusing. It looks like both Tunein and Spotify both stream off my phone and use the data plan on phone. If XM uses the Rivian connection I would save monies even with a subscription. I for some reason can't use the Rivian WIFI probably because I use the EVBase head unit for Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Can't connect 2 WIFIs at the same time???

I think all EVs are moving in this direction. They build in all the features and if you buy the cheap car those features are not turned on. You can add them later if you pay. This is a big saver in monies for for they only have to build one wiring harness etc. Look to other makers and depending on the level of vehicle you buy you have a unique wiring harness. So for example GM may have 3-4 different wiring harnesses for one vehicle

Curious how it SxM can have its "own" data package...it needs data and Wassym says it is not part of Connect+..maybe he is trying to say that it needs ''data' to stream?
