Steering wheel song skip button changed

Before I explain, I have done a soft and hard reset and I have also contacted customer support with no immediate fix.

I was sitting in traffic doing nothing but listening to music when all of a sudden the left button on the steering wheel changed from skipping to the next song to fast forwarding or rewinding :30 seconds. I do not know how to revert back to the song skip option.

Did I inadvertently change a setting somewhere? I wasn’t messing around with the settings or messing around with anything on the steering wheel at the time, other than skipping songs. Customer service escalated this to a senior, but they still couldn’t figure it out.

Most of my music is played with Amazon Alexa. Even on the screen, the Skip back and skip forward has been replaced with a fast-forward :30 seconds or rewind :30 seconds. The only way to skip a song now is to actually press the button on the screen below the :30 second fast-forward buttons. It seems like these button icons have moved around on the screen too??

Is there a way to revert back to the song skip option? I didn’t know there was a way to change it.

I noticed this change last night also. I thought it was part of the last software update but now I am not sure.

My daughter says that the rear display also changed and she's not able to skip tracks at all.

Have you tried it in different apps? Might be set up to fast forward in Apple Music but skip ahead in Amazon or something.

Noticed this recently also. Think if you press it a little longer it will still skip the song. Or I just say "Alexa, I don't like this song" and she'll skip it for me. ?

Came here to say the same! Thought maybe I inadvertently changed something...Please Rivian, this needs to be changed back ASAP, or give us the ability to map them to our preference! I can't think of the last time I FF or RW lol. Maybe on a Walkman cassette player.

I just noticed the same thing. A week ago. It was fine. Now I only get 30 seconds advance on a song versus next song. I hate it. Fix it rivian.

Yeah, this is super annoying. If I wanted to fast-forward 30 seconds, I would just say Alexa fast-forward 30 seconds or tell her to fast forward 40 seconds. That’s what I would do, but if I wanna just simply skip to the next song, I like to have a button to do it.

All other apps are unaffected. It seems to only be with Amazon music, which is about all I use.
