"Tailgate not working" - but it works?

I've been getting this message pop up repeatedly as I drive - sometimes once a minute, sometimes 8-9 times a minute. Most often when just cruising on the freeway. "Tailgate not working, service needed."

As far as I can tell, the tailgate IS working. It locks properly, it opens when I press the button on the back or on the screen...

I have a service appt, but as far as I can tell it's just a constant distraction more than an actual problem?

Ours gave warnings like that before it failed completely, throwing the tailgate to the horizontal position until tied up or fixed.

It's a known problem. See if they'll move the date and fix it ASAP, @ElGuano.

I wish mine actually said this when it fails, instead it just shows as open, and doesn't actuate.
