Looking for update on Tonneau option. I know about the manual option and not interested. Was looking for up to date info/ review of automated options. Have a 2023 R1T max that has the rails....
I did do search and did not see any relevant postings.

thanks

Since you have the rails, there are a lot of options out there. I've had the aluminum Lomax on my 2023 R1T for 1.5 years now and love it. It is low profile, tri-fold design and even in a torrential downpour it only allows a couple of drops of water into the bed. You can remove the spare tire (so long as you remove the retaining nut first) with the cover on.

In the time I've had it, I've never had a need to remove it but doing so is only a matter of loosening a couple of bolts.

There are other styles that will slide into the bed rails and allow you to store parts in the gear tunnel. To me -- although his is a neat idea -- I find that the gear turned fills up quicker then the bed does. Additionally, I've seen a lot of stories about these sliding parts getting damaged and not really sliding very well.

The one downside of this style of cover is that you basically can't open it when you have racks over the bed.

I just got a work order for an install of the new automatic tonneau cover. They weren’t advertised on the website as available but I was in for service and I mentioned that I wanted one. They told me to contact Rivian service and ask for one but when I spoke to the manager while waiting for the service to be done he said I’ll take care of it and Rivian called me the next day. Such great service and they really did call me. So I will have the automatic tonneau cover at the end of March! Long story but just call them and ask.

I have basically the same cover and have been very happy with it. it is very quick to open and use. Water ingress has been minimal even when we had the equivalent of a monsoon.

Takes about 30 minutes to install the first time but super easy to remove after that. Maybe not exactly what you are looking for but it is a great value compared and the simplicity is great. Not much to break on it.

I originally wanted a PTC (power tonneau cover) but with how often they seem to break, and how slow the move, I went with this one. I have the Weathertech version. It is so much quicker to just pop open to throw something in. Someone said this and the Lomax can be put in the gear tunnel but I've never tested it. Like Mathme, my gear tunnel fills up more quickly than the bed.

What was your cost (parts and labor) on the automatic tonneau?

We also have the Lomax tri-fold. We have had it for almost two years. We have been very pleased with it. It looks great on the truck. All of the mechanisms are robust. We have found it to be totally water tight. Our R1T sits outside in the Florida sun and rain. The price was very reasonable at about $1,100. This tonneau is made in the USA in a small town in North Dakota.

They told me something like $3000. If not exactly that it was close enough to make me jump on the deal. After all, I think the manual one is around $3000 and I was at the point of shoving 3 boards from Home Depot into the channels just to spite them. lol

I like a roll up cover. It stays in place 90% of the time. When I need the bed, I roll it up. Takes 60 seconds. More convenient than taking panels in and out. Cheaper too, mine from EV Sportsline (I think) was like $600. I have too much crap in my gear tunnel to add bed panels to it.

Looks like generic.
Side rails would definitely cover up controls from gear tunnel and tailgate.

No reviews whatsoever and no photos of it on an actual R1T

Interrobang’s aluminum panels tonneau is a very high quality solution that slides into the OEM rails. The storage bag is extra, but all is very high quality kit. I’m a comparative light weight at 150 lbs, but I’ve stood on the middle of my Interobang tonneau multiple times to trim tree limbs without any issues or concerns.
