I heard my rock hit and saw the chip while driving, but by the time I had gotten home the crack had spread at least 8 inches. These windshields are not very good. On my other vehicles I get chips and fill them with the Rain-X kit to keep them from spreading, they do not spread fast like the Rivian windshield does.I'm in the same boat! I'm working with a Rivian Certified Collision Center. They quoted about $1500.00 for the replacement and my insurance company (State Farm) accdpted the bid. I'm not sure of all that goes into replacing one of our windshields, but it's not just a matter of slapping a new sheet of glass in there. There's a "recalibration" step involved that needs a specialist.
I heard when the rock hit the windshield, but the impact site is down where it can't be seen from inside the vehicle, so we didn't notice it until the crack developed and spread. Based on various posts on this site, rock hits seem to do more damage to Rivians than other vehicles. Now that I know this, I'll inspect more closely the next time I hear that telltale "tick"! If I'd seen the original ding, maybe it could have been repaired without the whole windshield needing replacement. It seems this wasn't an option for OP--my condolences!

If you got the plate info (dashcam?) and the gravel came from the truck itself, they owe you to replace it. If it picked up gravel from the road then they are not liable. Either way start with your insurance and do what they say.So had an interstate incident. Trailer truck kindly sprayed me with gravel. Have a severe impact fracture that will require front windshield replacement. Thanks.![]()
I hope this is worthless info, but... You can now get glass done at this place. And I had them do an exterior film to protect the glass and hopefully avoid replacement. Glass coverage for the Rivian is insane, and I declined it. The cost would be more than a windshield every two years. The only approved collision center in Arizona did not do glass work. Mine was $1800 to replace, including the calibration.
Hi yeah It is ~2 months in my possession and I did not go through setting up the dash cam. Although - If you know or not chasing people for money is a process. I had a head on with car on my scooter. Took ~ 2years to serve the uninsured driver, get a judgement, and garnish wages to get 1,500 $. I actually parted out the whole scooter and got more money. If the windshield is only 1500$ and I get all or some of it covered I will be relieved. If you got the plate info (dashcam?) and the gravel came from the truck itself, they owe you to replace it. If it picked up gravel from the road then they are not liable. Either way start with your insurance and do what they say.

Good point. Yes setting up the dash cam is on the priority list now.Commercial entities are trivial to go after because they can't hide like the scumbag who hit you. It took extremely little effort and about a month to get a check. Around here the full process is $1850.
I have a friend with a 2024 Lexus ux her windshield just had to be replaced-it was $2000. Had to be recalibrated, windshield had to be replaced by Lexus because of warranty. This seems to be standard with all new vehicles that have sensors etc.So had an interstate incident. Trailer truck kindly sprayed me with gravel. Have a severe impact fracture that will require front windshield replacement. Thanks.![]()
Sorry you're having a rough time, but I appreciate their honesty! Good luck!So went to safelight for a replacement. They were upfront about not being able to recalibrate the sensors (windshield, camera). The replacement was with an aftermarket windshield which did not fit. There is a ~ .5 Cm gap at the bottom of the windshield almost along the whole length of the windshield.
