Vehicle to Load?

Is a vehicle to load option off the table for the R1 platform? Is it something that can be added with an OTA update? I presume it would be a hardware update in future releases. But, it would be nice to have in a pinch or home power outage...

There has been discussion of this feature, but I would strongly suggest assuming you will not get it with the current vehicle.

My guess is (as you said) it will require new hardware, and Rivian has barely mentioned it except in abstract future terms. Even if they roll it out on future vehicles, if it requires new in-vehicle hardware you can probably also assume it would require a new truck vs retrofitting it.

Better to assume this than be disappointed if it never happens.

You can do V2L today as long as it’s <1500W.
