Crazy thing was, it was the wheel itself. The hub section split off. It was still mounted to the axle.

I had something similar happen about 10 years ago at my place. A guy was pulling his boat down the street, a tire came off, missed two cars parked on the street, rolled up the lawn and bounced off the house. Put a scuff mark on the siding, and took out the gas meter.

Luckily a 911 call and a couple hours later the gas company replaced the line and meter at no charge.

Always goes to remember when bringing that boat out of storage, check your lug nuts and all connections carefully.

These guys had just bought the boat, so they had no history. They said the trailer had no tires and they went and picked some up from somewhere to tow it home. The wheel hub actually split from the rest of the rim. It was very odd.

The driver got very lucky, not only did it miss my truck, but it bounced off a rollup door that was open 30 min earlier where my machinist works right behind. I have a second charger on that wall too, if I had been parked at it instead, it would have smacked me dead center.

Glad no one was hurt. This looks like a scene from that one movie with the killer tire
