I purchased a lithium jump starter in case my 12v goes bad. Where should this be stored? I realized that if I store it in the Rivian and the 12v goes bad, I might not be able to open doors, tailgate, frunk, etc. to access the jump starter. I hate to have it locked in the vehicle with no access just when I need it. Thanks

This is where our R1T friends have a distinct advantage - they can put a locked weatherproof box in their truck bed. Which one did you buy? WireCutter likes the Weego 44S for $80 and I've been thinking about buying one (and the $18 case for it) to keep with my other tools in the spare tire well.

I'm not so worried about my 12V dying (although I probably should be more worried - it's one of those things over which I have no control so I don't stress about it), but I used to carry jumper cables to help out others and now I can't. We have friends whose Subaru's battery died and to help them I would have had to drive 20 minutes home, grab the jumper cables and one of my daughter's cars, and then come back to help them. They called AAA instead...

Mike beat me to it. I wouldn't want to actually have to learn or do the manual frunk release procedure, but that's what others have said as well.

FWIW, the manual frunk release process is actually pretty easy. You really only have to remove the farthest screws in the bottom part of wheel well and then you can pull the plastic back far enough to reach in and pull the cord at which point the frunk pops loose.

Does anyone have a link to a video showing this procedure? Would be a great bookmark for an emergency.

It's in the manual. Note there is not a lot of space in there depending on your wheel position. I think I ended up using the torx bits directly not the screwdriver.

Hoping that all of this will forever be for nought (and after being cautioned by Houston SC that a jump box may not work)…

I used this with a hitch receiver pin key and a quarter:

This for the receiver with the necessary torx wrenches, paint can key (to help remove the cover to gain access to the 12V jump cable) and some foam to prevent/minimize the inevitable rattling:

with this hitch pin lock:

I did have to cut down the wrenches and the key…
