Yup, three dings. One required repair. Got it a week into ownership. Notorious for windshield damage. As bad if not worse then Wranglers.

There've been many threads on this over the years. Some suspected Rivian glass wasn't too strong. Others advised adding one of the various "films" to protect it. Other, smart-ass people, just suggested don't follow so close. 😉 Personally in >2 years never had a problem myself. And I routinely have a 14 lb cat run up my windshield when the truck is in the garage. Obviously ymmv. Good luck!

Thank you - I have not been following closely. Twice the rock came from on coming lanes. We have had our windshield replaced 4 times in two years. Thank you for your input.

Does anyone have issues with the R1T getting a lot of rock dings and chips?
If you have a Rivian you are gonna get cracks and chips in the windshield...got a nice star shaped chip on my way home from picking up my R1T. After about the 3rd chip (and fill), I put an Exoshield ($500) and it has been nary a crack since. Although I have heard a few pings on the windshield, there is barely even a mark on the Exoshield. With the high cost of replacement, insurance claim hassle ($500-$1,000 deductible) and the loss of a day driving it up to the Denver Service Center, it is $$ well spent.

4 chips, all repaired immediately, in 3 years. Still original windshield. Nationwide reimbursed me for all my repairs.

Mine now looks like a spider web, but not replacing until road construction settles down in San Antonio...so...never replacing, I guess.

The thing you have to consider is that every one of those windshield repairs goes down as a claim on your insurance. I was flabbergasted when I changed insurance policies that the new insurance company brought up those minor windshield repairs as "claims" when discussing the price of my new policy...might of been better off just paying the $85 to fill them in out of pocket than to have it affect my policy for years.

Off the top of my head from two years ago. I used Safelite, so they are usually on the pricier side!
Wait a minute, shouldn't that be off the brake! I try to remember to ride my brake at least once a week just to keep my rotors clean!

Ya right!!!!! I never use my brakes anymore. Luckily they don’t rust like ice vehicles.
