Any of you have the issue where your wipers go crazy and can't be turned off?

It's happened to me twice now. First time, a reset fixed it. Second time it was more persistent and although I could get them to stop with a reset, the wipers stayed in whatever position they were in when the reset happened. Only letting the R1 sleep is what fixed it.

Is this a known issue?

Have you had your windshield replaced? I'd start with giving it a good cleaning - in case something is blocking the auto wipers sensor. I'd also try toggling "wiper service" a few times, in case that resets anything?

Other than that I'd suspect a wiring issue. Good luck, let us know how you get it resolved.

This was an issue on my Tesla when I had a dirty windshield, and on another car when it had a film on it. After super-cleaning with acetone and then ceramic coating, it never happened again.

Are your wipers set to auto? If so, turn that off and see if they stay put. If they do, its an issue with the rain sensors. Try a good windshield cleaning, especially at the top of the windshield in front of the sensor and see if that helps.

I've had this issue twice. The first case was solved by a good windshield cleaning. When it occurred the second time I just turned off auto because it was 4:30 AM and I didn't have the time to mess with it. Hasn't rained since so it kind of slipped my mind.

I have had it happen once in 3 years. Just turned it from auto to off. A wipe of Windex solved the problem. Probably some oil/road debris or tree sap around the camera that wasn't easily removed by the wipers.

We had the same issue shortly after delivery.

Rivian replaced a wiring harness in the steering column and no issues since.

Thanks for the input and what your experiences have been.
The issue persisted even when auto wipers were turned off. It persisted after multiple resets. Letting the R1 sleep finally fixed/cleared the issue.
There wasn't anything visible setting off the sensor, but maybe that's what I need to be more mindful of if/when it happens again.
Otherwise, I chalk it up to one of those bugs in the machine that occur from time to time.

I had exactly this happen to me two days ago. It was snowing, and I had the wipers set to auto. The snow stopped, and the wipers kept going. I turned the wipers off, but they still kept going. I was eventually able to make them stop by scrolling through the different settings and back to off, but I had to do so multiple times before they would finally stop.

Then it started snowing again, and, well... wash, rinse, repeat. If it happens again, I guess I get to create a service ticket.
