Hello, from a Ford Bronco Reject

Hi everyone,

Long story short:

I am an early Ford Bronco reservation holder (8/8/2020) with no assigned VIN after 560 days of waiting for a vehicle that was supposed to arrive in spring of 2021, with many production issues - Ford can't even make a damn hardtop, and their 2.7L engines are dropping valves. I am tired of Ford's bullshit shenanigans and looking for alternatives as I do not want to spend $50k with a legacy manufacturer who time after time has screwed me over with false promises, flat out lies to appease investors, lack of any type of communication, and their awful dealership model marking up vehicles nearly 100%! I'm over it and it's time to look for something better and support a company that deserves my hard earned cash (Yes I am aware Ford owns a minority stock in Rivian). I am ready to bail on the Bronco.

While driving home from the mountains a couple weeks ago I saw an R1S (and an R1T following) for the first time - pic below, sorry about the quality. I've been doing some research about them and want to seriously consider ordering one. I understand there is a year or two plus wait and that is okay as I am not in a rush. I've been searching here and other places for any type of real world information on when I could realistically expect a delivery for the R1T and R1S?

Can anyone help direct me to some great informational sources/threads on best guess delivery dates? I'm open to other information people think I should read up on before jumping in. I apologize as this is probably asked a lot but the search function here is not the best.

If you're thinking of placing a reservation now, then I wouldn't plan on getting it until late 2023 or later.

In the meantime, you can stop by the Denver Rivian location at 39th and Steele and you may get lucky and spot some R1T's charging. The one R1S you spotted with wrap was there recently. Welcome to the CO Long-Suffering Rivian site!!

I would say, very hard to say. Lots of people around here very pissed at Rivian for some of the same you cite (except for valves and dealer markup). We’re at the end (hopefully) of a global pandemic and despite every manufacturer struggling with the same supply chain woes, most people blame the manufacturer.

I’m due to get mine in Q3 this year, which will be right at 2 years. I’d be a little shocked if new reservation holders have to wait that long. That either assumes that demand increases dramatically or they never get faster at making trucks. Both possible but unlikely IMHO.

There are a couple major differences. Ford has been making vehicles for 120 years. They can blame the pandemic all they want but that's not the case. Ford is actively making dealer inventory units before filling reservations - when they clearly stated they would fill all reservations BEFORE dealer inventory.

Seriously though, most of the salt (justified) you'll see on here comes from folks that have had pre-orders for 3-4 years. Most of them have expected delivery dates of sometime in 2022, with certain builds (max pack or explore trim) pushed into 2023.

We don't 100% know Rivian's production strategy, but have basically discerned it involves a mix of time of order, build spec, and location. Rivian is 5 months-ish into "production", with most of those units going to employees, and representing roughly 1500 R1T units in total IIRC. Less than a handful of R1S models have been built and I doubt anyone would call them production-ready at this point.

Sadly you won't find any real info on deliveries. Just guesses. I think 2024 is possible if you order today, but a lot has to go right to get to that point and so far nothing is going right.

None of the earliest 2018 launch edition customers have even gotten their cars and they have been given lots of slipping timelines along the way.

I love the truck and I'm waiting for how ever long it takes, but it won't be "soon".

This is not true. Very few of the earliest launch edition customers have received their vehicles is the reality.

I was still hyped and optimistic at 560 days, but am now a grizzled veteran of waiting for s00n at 1,179 days.

Unless RIvian really starts getting production underway AND secures their supply chains I'd be willing to bet that an order today gets a 2025 delivery...ok, maybe a late 2024.

I have a Nov 2018 reservation with a March/April 2022 delivery window, I'm hoping I get it before 2023.
