Worried about buying a Rivian if the company fails

If you rely on YouTube videos to steer your financial decisions it's likely most of them will be poorly guided. But as with many here, I heard all the same stuff when I got my 2014 Model S. People said I was dumb the company would fail etc etc. Rivian is building great products and...

Should RJ try to get the exiting Tesla execs?

I think it's mostly sales staff they are axing. But agree with others, there are a lot of great engineers at Tesla to be poached.

    I wouldn't bet against Toyota ....... Mirai XLE with a 402-mile EPA-estimated driving range. *

Ha! My neighbor had one. It was a nightmare to refuel. Only a few stations and the were constantly down. And if you showed up and someone was using it, you had to wait until they were done AND wait for the pump to repressurize for 20 minutes before it would work again. It's a good idea...

NACS Adapter reservation emails are now going out!!!!

They haven't sent them out yet. They are just getting a tally of how many people are opting in. My R1T Vin is in the 4500s from 2022 so I'm relatively early and I'll post if I get one, but I'm not holding my breath. There are adapters from Lectron and A2Z if you need one now.

    12v issues (both needed replacement)

That's good to know. I drove one of my other trucks to work this morning because I didn't want to have to worry about it while I waited for my Rivian follow up call. They eventually called and said they didn't think it would be a problem until my mobile appt next week.

    12v issues (both needed replacement)

Yeah not too bad considering some of the stories. I just hate the way they make you panic by saying you will lose range and you have to call the service center immediately. It makes you wonder whether it’s smart to just have it towed or you could drive it for days without issue.

    12v issues (both needed replacement)

I got hit with the “replace 12v battery” red warning light tonight. First time in 18000 miles and about 18 months of ownership. the funny thing is is happily pop in to auto zone and replace the 12v batteries if I could like all my ICE cars- but they want me to bring it in tomorrow. And although...

Vandalism on Rivian - sharing for awareness

Pretty awful. I would post on Next Door as well. In SoCal, it's surprisingly affective. I would also make a flyer and put it around the parking garage and see if there is a security office that has any cameras etc. I hate this kind of crime. I'm sorry it happened to you.

It's April 2nd and I'm still waiting for my NACS adapter email!!!

Just go the email to reserve. I also ordered a lectern. Depending on how quickly the Rivian adapter comes, maybe I'll return the Lectron.

Just test drove a Model X...

yeah that's a great point. My folks are older so they don't use the roof f0or anything,, but that would be a dealbreaker for me.

Just test drove a Model X...

My parents have an X. The Falcon doors have never failed, but they are a constant annoyance. They don't do anything better than a normal door. Everyone who has to get in and out of them hates them.

backing with a trailer ... not

I tow a 2 horse trailer, no issues. If you lift your butt off the seat as others have confirmed, the truck may think you are getting out and it will stop.

Tesla refusing to buy back Cybertruck or allowing buyer to sell elsewhere

I would sell it and let Tesla come after me. I'd love to see all the discovery paperwork about what a piece of crap the car is.

Delivery canceled 4 hours before pickup what a joke

Back in 2022 a lot of us went through agony as our trucks were delivered to service center and we could schedule our own pickup appts only to find out that they would be canceled hours later so the service center could do their necessary quality control. Sometimes that resulted in even longer...

    All-New 4Runner (2025) First Official Teaser Look

We have a 2015 4Runner. It's a very solid car we will probably drive until it dies. But it's very old tech for better or worse. Going from the Rivian to driving the 4runner makes the 4Runner feel so sluggish that it's unenjoyable. I love Toyotas, but I will be surprised if the new one is...

So what is up with this company?

Yeah, I think that's correct about the R1S. We are an SUV country. I'm just more curious about the R1Ts future. I love this truck so much, I hope they don't get cold feet from with poor truck sales and discontinue it. I have an R1T and I tow a 2 horse trailer with it. I get about 150...

So what is up with this company?

When you go to configure a truck it specifically says "A $1,000 deposit secures your spot. You’ll finalize your configuration once it’s time for production." If I placed a deposit and configured a truck expecting it in 1-4 months I would still be bummed 2 months in to learn my only option is...

67% residual for 36 month / 15,000 mile R1S Quad Motor Lease. Final numbers included in thread.

I bought my R1T, but if lease would have been an option in 2022 I'd strongly consider it. With new EVs, a lease is really beneficial for keeping up the tech. in 3 years the R1 line will be refreshed internally and possibly externally and you'll either get a better price from Rivian to buy it...

would you buy R1T again as of 3/25/2024?

I have had mine since mid 2022. Still love it. Would defintey buy again. Maybe I'd get the dual motor over the quad - not sure, but otherwise, I can't imagine I would do anything different. The company will be around. It has a very solid foundation and R2 rolling out will be huge. The...
