I've been a big Toyota fan and owned numerous ones. Learned to drive on an FJ40. I've met a lot of Rivian owners who came from Tacos, 4Runners and LCs. I still own a 120 series GX so I'm not in agreement with Toyota buyers won't buy an EV or Rivian.

Fact is, Toyota buyers want more than Toyota is offering these days. If not for the insanely high quality of Toyotas, they would be in trouble. I like my Rivian but my Toyota is what I would trust my life to in the middle of nowhere.

Now, a Lexus is what I'm looking most closely at to replace my less-than-2-year-old R1S. I just want something that's gonna work all the time. No sensor issues, no 6-7 hour round trips for service.

I agree that's true for Toyota- not so much true for Lexus.

Yeah, that's the Landcruiser I'd buy (so to speak) if I was in the market. Extremely nice F&F and execution. And Lexus was some of the best service experiences I ever had (with my GS300 back in the day).

The new Supra really grew on me too, yes, BMW, blahblahblah , but not a bad way for that model to go out. When tuners started working them over and the aftermarket opened up, I've seen some pretty fanatastic builds. It'll never be a 4th Gen, but I did on a whim seriously consider one (and the fact they offered it with a manual made me a little giddy )

It's the service experience/ warranty that's a huge factor. I love the driving dynamics of the R1S, but service is past the tipping point for me. I'm still having problems, and I don't want to keep driving for a minimum of 7 hours every time I need them to try to figure out this sensor problem. Especially considering they broke the windshield washer fluid hose last time so now it won't hold windshield wash.

The Lexus experience seems to be centered on avoiding service problems. Rivian used to have this same focus, but now they are belt-tightening. I just want the damn thing to work. I didn't spend 114K on my Rivian to be driving halfway across the country to get it fixed all the time.
