I did, she sounded confused and couldn't tell me. "All it says is winter 2022". Anyway, people with Spring or later dates haven't gotten their chargers yet, so that's a promising differentiator.Rather than guess, why not just ask your "EV Concierge" what he / she means by Winter 2022?
The great thing about it is you'll never hear it. There's a potential for Rivian to glean information about how their competition does things that could be integrated into your R1, would you not want that sooner than later? And if anyone is reading this and pushes some random to the top of the list just because he is getting a Hummer delivered, be prepared for a wave of deposit cancellations if you do that.
Wait in line like the rest of us. Kthxbai.
No, I don't want Rivian re-engineering ANYTHING at this stage of the game. Ship vehicles. Integrate upgrades with the R2s.The great thing about it is you'll never hear it. Ex: The hummer is shipping with a working 400V/800V DC charging system. It doesn't seem like Rivian is shipping R1's with that working yet based on the charging rates we've heard of.
You've clearly never worked for an automotive OEM. They all buy eachother's cars and tear them down. The Hummer has a lot of brand new tech GM hasn't shipped before, it's not just three Bolt EVs stapled together. I'm sure Rivian has a lot of smart engineers but not all engineers come up with all the same ideas. No, I don't want Rivian re-engineering ANYTHING at this stage of the game. Ship vehicles. Also, there's nothing in the Hummer that Rivian can't figure out for themselves. They have plenty of smart engineers, and there's nobody over at GM that's some genius beyond compare.
Congrats man! I look forward to pics, videos, as well as your thoughts & feedback about it!Hummer is at the dealer. GM Tech is supposed to be installing the hard tonneau cover today. Sounds like GM wants to make a big deal out of my actual delivery, having reps from different areas of GM there to answer any questions I might have. I Expect to take delivery on Saturday or Monday.
If anyone from Rivian reads this, that is in a position to push me to the top of the R1T deliveries list, in trade for access to my Hummer for a period of time, DM me, willing to sign an agreement and an NDA.
You just sound like a crybaby to me. Blocked. You've clearly never worked in a production capacity of any form. You don't tear apart a competitors tech and incorporate it while you're trying to ship a product. Design cycles in the automotive industry take years. If they were a software company that cycle could be much shorter, but they're not. You're talking about potentially extensive hardware redesigns. That takes a lot of time to do, plus all the added time to source new parts, train new staff, get new robotics, etc etc. Anything Rivian might learn from GM (it may not be 3 Bolt's taped together, but it's not entirely new tech either) would take years for them to redesign and incorporate.
No, I don't want Rivian trying to do that right now. No, you don't deserve to be bumped up just because you have a Hummer reservation.
