R2 email “expect order invite eta by the end of June”

Speaking of being "prioritized," another big annoyance is that during the initial launch they made a big deal about current Rivian owners getting priority, but now it's clear that it's only priority relative to location.

Frankly I don't understand their emphasis on proximity to a delivery location for priority. I do understand proximity to a service center as that impacts ownership experience, but why does it matter how close to the delivery center you are if you are willing to travel to take delivery?
I'm under 30 minutes, have multiple day one hour one reservations, said yes to LE, been an R1 owner for over 4 years, still no invite yet.

Well, that’s interesting. When did you place your reservation?
4 minutes after the reservations opened. I have not been getting any R2 related messages, I’ve just been going into my account when I hear on the forum that people got emails. So far no updates on order status though.

To be fair, I didn't expect an order invite in the first wave, but it seems to be trending more towards location than loyalty at the moment. It's disappointing considering how much emphasis they put on loyalty in the initial aftermath of the launch event.

I personally think the comms from Rivian has been good and consistent and timelines well covered and on track.

That said, I too feel annoyed about the rando 2026 non owners same city getting invites already on day 1 week 1. It doesn't feel like getting prioritized. I do understand how it can help better determine conversion rates and time estimates for everyone.

I am sure they have other reasons, and maybe they felt like it was worth the tradeoff of disappointing a few early adopters and reservation orders to pacify the masses mi with more accurate delivery estimates.
I hear you and feel the same way. But if i was doing this i would do a 60/40 split or even 50/50 of current vs non current owners. The R2 was meant for the masses that could not afford the R1 and Rivian can’t lose these people to Tesla. So, give some of These folks hope to hold on until they can ramp up production.

I ordered the moment deposits went live on 3/7/24, am not a current Rivian owner, I live a 5 min walk from a service center/demo. I got the "we'll let you know by end of June when you can expect an order" invite. I'm definitely jealous of those who currently do not own a Rivian, do not live near Rivian, placed deposits after me and yet got to place an order. Its been an exciting week!

I’m so done checking my email every 30mins for the last 3 days. I’ll get it when I get it. Oh wait need to check my email. BrB. Never mind where am I? Oh yeah so done with this checking and I just might wait for lidar and the RAP3 chip. Yeah that’s it, I’ll just wait. 😜
