What happen? Lease return or lemon?
neither.

Rivian's trade in value was >5k less than what it would sell it for. Holding it until R2 is available would mean having even less value. Plus it means The Count is down to 6 vehicles so there is room for staff to clean the garages.

If I may ask, did you sell private party or to CarMax or equivalent? I am the same situation, waiting to trade my R1T in for the R2.

Found mine to be in the same boat. Actively looking for options to replace/sell/trade/etc.

What are the other 6 cars in the Counts fleet? Going to replace the Rivian and move back to 7, or stay as is?

test driving the R2 in a few days but until Capital City has a service center and given the pull back on mobile service The Count is circumspect.

Sorry to hear that, private party sucks nowadays due to idiots looking before they leap or looking to screw you out of your property.

Last summer I sold an older Jetski we had, I listed it for $2,399 and ended up getting $2K even for it. I listed it on FB Marketplace where it seems 95% of "interested" parties are all nutcases. I was getting lowball "I can come right now" type offers for $500-$1'000 for a running Jetski with a working non-rusted trailer, I had papers for both. At one point I was so frustrated I said "okay" to a guy who offered me $1,200.. and he still didn't show! Just crazy people have ruined private party sales, and the big players know it so they pay bottom dollar knowing how bad selling private has become.

This is precisely the reason why I would never use sites like BaT or C&B or sell vehicles, only purchase. The incessant questions from people who have no intention of actually buying the cars is laughable. On a GT4 RS listing one m0r0n asked for a DME report. When it was pointed out that they only come in PDK, the questioner claimed he was interested, but not if it doesn't come in manual. Like yeah, someone who's seriously looking at a GT4 RS doesn't know the actual configuration.

I've sold my last 3 vehicles to Carvana or Carmax. Yes I could make a few more bucks selling private party, but it's not worth the brain damage.

Same, I think I sold my last 3 vehicles to Carmax/Carvana/Algo and traded one in to a regular dealership.

Boats are just as bad or even worse... jerkoffs are just looking for a joy ride out on the bay with no intention of purchasing. It's so frustrating to the point where it's become a major headache.

Nowadays you can even stop payment on a cashiers check so they're pretty much useless and no one wants to give or get large amounts of cash. That leave ACH payments which can be reversed due to the originating account being funded fraudulently. You can use an escrow service, but it's expensive and it takes time and adds complexity. I don't trust anyone other then a legit car buying service or dealership at this point... 😟
