Purchasing advice - Gen 1 vs Gen 2

If you “love” Rivian then you probably understand their charging network is not the same as Tesla’s in more ways than one. Rivian offsets the power used by its charging network with renewable energy. That isn’t free. It may not be important to you, but it makes a difference to me. Combine that with multiple other charging options that allow me to avoid putting a penny in Leon’s pocket and I will use RAN wherever it is available.

Still on the market. CarMax didn’t bother to fix the Rivian I reserved. They just released my reservation after a couple of days and sold it to another unsuspecting buyer (it’s an assumption but it was sold immediately after my reservation disappeared). Figured that would happen.

Hey all, I'm new to the forums. I'm pretty much in the same boat as the OP. Scouring all the places daily for the right one. I found a Jan 2023 quad that I really like, but is that too early? Also anyone know how to better filter carmx or carvana for all terrain mode? Finding the needles in the haystack is time consuming.

Is it a Rivian Blue? I traded mine in a month ago (for a Gen 2) and am hoping it is finding a new home. I actually have no idea when in 2023 is was built. I‘d say 2023 is a bit hit or miss, but I looooooooved mine and had nearly no issues. I traded just cause I wanted more range and like new stuff.

I’m pretty sure that Tesla has been 100% renewable energy for their superchargers for a few years now.

Well, after 6 months of looking at used ones off and on I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a new Forest Green R1T Tri Max.

Just picked it up yesterday. This truck is really amazing! No issues at delivery outside of a squeaky gear tunnel door, which they lubed up for me before I took it home.

I was pleasantly surprised Rivian gave me a trade in amount on my 2021 Gladiator that was pretty close to CarMax. It was tough to give up the convertible truck but the R1T is so much nicer to drive than my Mojave. Nice to actually have some horsepower again too.

Ordered it with the following options:
Forest Green paint
Black Mountain + Brown Ash Wood interior
22" Sport Dark wheels
Darkout Package
Utility Panel
Sound + Vision Package
Dynamic Glass Roof
Rivian Premium Audio
Powered Tonneau Cover V2

Looks awesome! And congrats on the truck you will love it. I bought a gently used Gen1 Quad about a year ago and it has been awesome for me. May upgrade to a Gen2 Tri Max eventually

I just had my 2026 R1T which I've owned for a year in for routine service. I received a Gen1 Quad that I drove for a week. My takes:
1. My Gen2 drove much nicer overall. Steering felt better, response, ride, many things.
2. Gen2 is much quieter. Road/wind noise, motor noise is very loud on the gen1. The loaner did have the off-road Pirellis, so that added noise vs my 22" street tires.
3. Seats seemed to be noticeably more comfortable in my Tri. vs the loaner.
4. The Gen1 had the Meridian, and I couldn't tell the difference between the two. Both sound good. Not high-end aftermarket good by no means but good for stock audio. I've seen lots of reviews that said the non-Meridian audio was terrible, but I think they've fixed that.
5. The ride was so much smoother/softer/tighter (sorry I am having trouble explaining it in words). I compared all the ride quality settings.

After this week of having the loaner, I was very, very happy to have my R1T Tri back!!

Same general experience for my new Tri after test driving a lot of gen 1 quads. I’ve also been pleasantly surprised by the sound system quality as it seemed like folks here were quite negative about it. Sounds pretty similar to our BMW I4 Harmon Kardon setup.

I really prefer the looks of a more aggressive all terrain tire but on an EV truck the noise is so much more noticeable, hence I avoided them on my Tri. Big difference in noise both gen 1 and 2.
