I just did a double-take on your thread title and realize you're an April-May window getting your Guide contact early in the month beforehand. That's a very encouraging sign. Means us folks in the May-June period could start getting Guides come early-mid April.

To update anyone who is interested.

My guide Bailey called me at the agreed time, “Toll Free Call” on the caller ID.

She explained some basic details about her role. Informed me that the R1T as I have configured is in production and delivery is estimated 3-6 weeks.

I inquired about the underbody shield and the tow hooks, If I want to remove the underbody shield and get the tow hooks still I can but my ‘truck’ in production will have the underbody shield so my estimate will change by an unknown amount.

I also inquired about switching to the max pack. She insisted I could still switch to a max pack if I wanted. She said I could still get original pricing but she didn’t seem sure. Mentioned 85-90 more miles of range with he Max pack.

Last of all she explained the next steps. Signing a purchase agreement is next. Then as the truck is ready will have to arrange financing, insurance etc. Of course she mentioned they offer those things through Chase and Nationwide respectively.

Sounds like I have until Monday to decide if I want to accept the truck as I have it configured.

What did you decide? Interested to see if you changed your mind and whether that delays your delivery.

I just stayed with what I have configured, with the underbody shield. I got an email yesterday that my truck is ready for delivery. Not entirely sure what that means but I can't schedule it yet, likely because I haven't uploaded all the information they want yet. Waiting on clarification from my guide.

Either way seems like I was have my truck before my April/May window. My first phone call with my guide happened 11 days ago, so moves very fast once they start the process (at least for me).

From anecdotal evidence I think it means it is a day to a few away - it may be at the distribution point but they are doing the final check and need to schedule with you. I think it means you get it this week.

All this kind of stuff makes me think they are sprinting to March 31 and then hopefully (selfishly) mix in some R1s. I am just not sure if they can run both on the line at the same time. I imagine no.

Hey @pogi thanks for your interest. I love the truck, definitely exceeds all expectations.

Regarding the 8 step process. First steps were ok overall they work, and your guide will help but if busy it may take a while to get back to you, a few notes on the process between vehicle coming and in my driveway:

  1. Rivian requires insurance with your Rivian’s VIN, which is odd, but I said I would provide it after we had an established delivery date and then I called my agent and started a policy effective that day.
  2. Similar with sending payments for a loan, down payment etc. I didn’t have to do any of this before I had a delivery date established. Then two days before I worked with the bank to fee up funds and send a check. Rivian requires tracking and a copy of the front of the check.
  3. In sending my payment, I tried to use their wire funds. I followed their instructions exactly but their bank rejected and charged my $45 on top of that. I requested a refund, never got an answer. I suggested some swag as a sorry for the issues and my guide ignored that as well. Left a bit of a bad taste In my mouth, as soon as they got their money (by another method) they didn’t care anymore that their bank charged me fees… so annoying but is what it is I guess. Left me scrambling as well a day before delivery.
  4. Need to pay the OR privilege tax separate and show Rivian the certificate but be warned my guide didn’t know, I asked and then took care of it the day before delivery.

Delivery process: Scheduled for 9AM. I got a couple texts and a call approaching 9AM. John delivered my truck, he drove up a few minutes after 9. Immediately acknowledged an issue, their was a screw in the tire. So immediately I have to put on the spare. So start the rest of the delivery process, I get a call as we are looking at something and the delivery manager calls and says they want to stop delivery… what? Because of the tire?? I explained we will just put on the spare, no biggie. Ok Ok… delivery proceeds. John shows me around the truck, go in detail over some of the other features. Then to change the spare, well we didn’t do it quite right and broke a adapter included with the jack kit. So plan B I drove the truck to a local tire shop (Tire Guy in Sandy) and he put the spare on for me, and took a good look at my new toy.. No charge.. John and his teammate pulled up a few minutes later in a Silver R1T and took the offending tire away. John was great overall.

So few minor issues that are also left unresolved.
  1. Missing spare tire, not update since delivery on that
  2. Some poorly aligned door trim panels
  3. Air compressor isn’t working correct to inflate tires
  4. Broken jack point tool
I got a call from my Guide Monday after the delivery, she was really sorry I was having these issues. Said she was submitting a ticket and I would hear something from the service team. Seems like they are figuring out how to make things right. She did mention that they don’t have R1T loaners so sounded like they would rent me a ICE vehicle and pay for the gas?? We’ll see haven’t heard anything yet, nothing urgent but would like to get that spare.

Other note about delivery. Still haven’t gotten my accessories (cross bars, all weather floor mats and the recovery kit). I asked my guide both before delivery and while I was on the phone with her Monday. Both times I got what is likely their stock answer, ‘We try to get them to you within 7 days of delivery’. This is something they could improve, if you’re shipping them put them in as an order online so we can track or something but sounds like I should just expect a mystery package any day??

The truck itself is amazing and I love it so far. Some room for improvement too so it should only get better.

thanks for the insight, congratulations on your new ride, I also notice you have an EV6 based on your signature + image you showed. Which one would you be taking on roadtrips?

I hope they make it right for you on the bank fee, although nominal but it's the whole experience that counts.

I have read in some posts that accessories would be delivered post truck delivery, should come soon.

The OR privilege tax, would be a key learning for Rivian & they should start documenting these nuances per state so experiences would be smoother.

You are a very patient person & I applaud you for the tire issue, fixable yes - annoyance - definitely, but I think it is totally worth it.

Love the shot below with Hood on the background :)

Cheers & happy trails, would you be in the April 8th meet up?

Hey thanks. I have read the other experiences regarding the accessories, not urgent either just wish it was more predictable. What if I was going to be out of town and they sat on my porch for days or something.

Yep that’s my EV6 too, definitely don’t need both of them. The Kia with the faster chargnig and higher efficiency would be hard to argue against but…. The R1T is awesome :)

Yeah I do expect to be there on the 8th.
