Q1 2022 production & delivery numbers: 2,553 / 1,227

Pretty good numbers. Looks like the scramble at the last 2 weeks of march allowed them to push out half of their stock. Guessing things will slow down now until the end of June.

They can’t afford to slow down. That was the number for the 1st quarter, they state they feel like the are still on target for the 25k this year.

That means they need to average 2,494 a month or 7,482 a quarter for the remaining quarters or increase the quarterly output by 64.5% each quarter to make their number

We could just say that we estimate EDV deliveries were offset by R1 deliveries to employees early in the quarter, and your calculation works it terms of filling public orders......

Exactly what I thought, they are averaging well
above 300 a week which is a good sign.

I agree they seem to be ramping ok. They have stated the lines have run at a rate already that would yield 50k a year if they had the materials to feed it.

My point was only that they need to steadily increase the output, they will not be able to slow down and try to overload the quarter close to make their numbers.

They also need to start getting the delivery numbers closer to the production numbers. Having completed vehicles sitting on lots or in transit is a huge waste of resources.

Really wish they would break it down by model. I'm sure at this point it's mostly R1T, but it would be nice to see if any R1S were produced

Also, I'm happy w/ those numbers, I just thought they had delivered more than 1,227 (the 2,500 feels about right).

My concern right now is not the ability to produce trucks, but the ability to get them through the service center bottleneck (PDI and actual deliveries). It just feels a bit like that they can produce them much faster than they can actually get them into driveways.

As usual, Rivian didn't share enough information for us to draw many meaningful conclusions. For example, 1300 of the 2500 could have been undelivered Amazon vans and the other 1200 could have been delivered R1 vehicles.

Just as a comparison, GM delivered 98 Hummers in Q1.

So if you park those side by side...that's about the same as parking all of the R1Ts delivered side by side right? ?

In the Q4 call they basically said very few EDV or R1S vehicles would be built in q1. They were focused on R1Ts with black interior. Amazon was ramping up for Q2 and 3 with some in q4. Hopefully next quarter they will separate out the three vehicles in the numbers.

A few good signs here.

First, ramp up is going well. I want to say in December they wanted to get to 1,200/week by end of 2022. I think they’re on pace to do this.

They reaffirmed their 25k number, meaning they likely have supply for that many vehicles. I would not be surprise me if they beat that number by 5k.

They have build themselves a buffer of vehicles to deal with the logistics of getting them around the country for deliveries. This should be a good sign for May-June delivery window folks.

If they can iron out supply chain issues, expect increased production end of this year, early 2023.

If you read the google reviews for Rivian (the Normal location) they certainly have a lot of pissed off truckers from all the inbound supplies which supports your theory. Let's just hope they get their logistics worked out before they completely piss off the trucking industry and have companies refuse to deliver goods to them.

That's almost as depressing as ($2.6B) loss in Q4 last year.
