Had a wonderful call with my guide, config locked and PBA signed within an hour. Mid-May delivery. Waiting for VIN assignment and requested for factory tour & pickup which is being done every month end itseems. Guide is from Normal and can see the manufacturing area.

Config: R1S Limestone, OC, 21' wheels, field kit, All weather floor mats, compact spare tire

Everyone's big question "Ocean Coast" interior: "No delays otherwise I won't be talking to you now" was my guides answer so....

Camp Kitchen: working on a shuttle system for kitchen on the rear of the SUV. Will be added to Gear Shop s00n ?

Spare wheel: "compact spare tire" can be added but the wheel well does allow a normal wheel to be stored. Asked my guide to check if I can actually get a regular wheel instead of compact tire.

R1S or R1T test drive: asked if I could get a test drive of R1S or a limestone R1T, told him I am close to normal(2hr. Drive) so don't mind driving there, he said will check and get back ?

Interior pics: will be sending some, so patiently waiting

2nd row: seats will be sliding for 3rd row access, will not fold completely for 3rd row access.

User guide: under Legal review. Apparently they cannot deliver any R1S until legal approves the user guide.

Membership: membership will include "No cost" charging at Rivian adventure network or waypoints and discounted costs/fees at others like evgo, chargepoint etc..,

Additional things in future: 2nd & 3rd row screens, camp kitchen, parking assist etc...
Some of the responses you got from your guide contradicts what weve been told or seen in pics before
  • OC is definitely "delayed" as very few or no R1Ts have been delivered with it. maybe your R1S isn't delayed but it is definitely delaying that interior for lots of orders
  • ive heard the opposite from CS about the space where the spare tire is stored, that it can only hold a compact spare. i hope your guide was right
  • when does membership start? whats the point of getting it day one when RAN basically doesnt exist?

I really hope that is the case. Not offering captain chairs AND not having slide/tilt would be a huge mistake.
In the recent video showing the yellow R1S, one thing you can clearly see is individual seat tilting in the second row.

This might be the first time we've seen proof of this:

Good catch, could that also be "2nd row reclining" ? Well will only know when we get some concrete information from Rivian

Is the OC delay on R1T's potentially due to an R1T-specific component they can't get? They might have all components for the R1S interior in OC, but maybe a bad batch for R1T rear door trim showed up or something, causing an issue.

Now that I've given the benefit of the doubt, I think they're just trying to get as many people into black interiors and save themselves the expense of OC for a few hundred trucks at least.

I seriously wonder if the OC delays all come down to those speaker grills. In the online rendering, all the headliner speaker grills match the ceiling. But every FE or OC pre-production vehicle has had the same black grills as the mountain black interior.

On the FE interior, you can probably get away with it. The difference between the dark green headliner and the black grills is small, and doesn't stand out. But the black grills look horrible on OC.

If this is the case, it explains why they bumped up FE when that seemed like the one that would take the longest—just use the black speaker grills on FE and call it good. Pure speculation, of course.

On OC interior - what @dleewla was informed may NOT be in direct conflict with what others have reported (a delay). You'll notice @dleewla is being guided (haha) towards a mid-May delivery. That may be a "delay" for many of us (I'm Mar-April R1S with OC), but that still could be accurate as they work to finalize the production schedule for remaining of April / early May. If they came back to me and said mid-May for your configuration (I have no definitive date yet) that would officially be a "delay" from what they've told me before.

Yes, maybe I'm being too optimistic... but trying to stay hopeful for SooN.

For those that received PBAs after locking your config, when you say “locked” do you mean that you confirmed your build with your guide and your account now displays the follow?
Your configuration is confirmed — to make any changes, please reach out to your Rivian Guide. Changes to some options may affect your delivery timing.
I had my call with my guide on 4/4, confirmed my config, and see that message in my account—but I have not yet received my PBA.

I'm not sure what "locked" means either...

I think the word "locked" may be the word choice of the person posting the thread.

I had my Guide Call last Thursday, and signed my PBD yesterday (Wednesday), but it still shows
" Your configuration is confirmed — to make any changes, please reach out to your Rivian Guide. Changes to some options may affect your delivery timing. "
No Steps 1-8 yet...and no delivery timeframe from Guide call, but that once the "Steps" started, that it would "move pretty fast".

I also locked on 4/4 with my guide. After reading too many messages today it seems people who locked with their guide a couple weeks ago did not get a PBA, while people locking this week received the PBA email around the same time they spoke with their guide and locked their config.

On a good note; I received my PBA email at 12:40pm today.

edit: I should note that I spoke with my guide yesterday (4/20) and was told he knows of no delay to my March/April delivery window. (The keyword is, "knows" of no delay)

I followed up with my Guide on this exact question. Sounds to me like "confirmed" is indicative of an internal process where the buyer's Locked configuration is matched with the production schedule. It's not clear to me that a specific VIN would have to be assigned, but certainly - there's a vehicle in the production plan that matches this person's exact "locked" configuration. I suppose a specific VIN could be assigned at a later time, but the important part is the vehicle in the production schedule is matched with a specific customer's vehicle.

At least that's how I interpret all of this. The fact that we don't yet have a PBA, says to me that our locked configuration hasn't yet been matched to a vehicle in the future production schedule. I don't know how far out that production schedule goes into the future, but I think it's common to have at least monthly and more often weekly fixed production schedules. No idea how Rivian does this.

For now, I'm remaining hopeful and patient. Most importantly I want a quality product. I've waited 3+ years - an extra month or so won't make a big difference 2 years from now.
