Took the R1T for it's first car wash today and drew a bit of a crowd. Everyone loves the Launch Green and I had to regrettably say it wasn't available to order anymore. Spent an extra 20 mins showing the staff all the doors and openings. Carwash mode was a hit and it seemed to work. But one thing:

When I took it out of car wash mode and put it in drive, the wiper immediately fired once. It's been doing that every time I put it in drive. Initially I thought it was because the windshield was dirty, but in this case it had just been cleaned. That wiper going off when you go into drive is definitely a bug.

I was nervous about the truck not starting and changing heights on its own as it does.

The key fob is super finicky. Telling me to put the card near the door and whatnot. Which does nothing for the keyfob. Maybe it works for the credit card IDK. It sometimes takes me 5 or 6 unlock presses on the fob with my foot on the break to get the car into Ready state. I was nervous that would happen and they wouldn't be able to get it moving. I was also afraid the truck was just going to change heights as it sometimes does on its own. I put it in the lowest setting when I arrived but didn't know what would happen as they opened and closed doors for an hour. The truck adjusting height on its own is my most hated thing about it right now. There is just never a reason I would ever want it changed from what I set it at. I'm starting to get furious that it decides to change height.

Rivian R1T R1S Carwash Mode - Success ? 20220429_123444

There was a Phantom getting a wax next to me at one point. Quite the scene at the ole' car wash today. Wanted to get a picture of the two but it's owner didn't seem like the picture happy type.

I left the tonneau cover closed. But I wish I would have opened it to clean the bed out. Maybe I'll test that next week for another wash.

Have you figured out the rime or reason (when and why) for it? Does it change without drive mode changing? There is no setting to lock the hight?

You know, my fob has been pretty finicky the last week or so too. I had to lock via my phone earlier when the fob wouldn't lock. I wonder if the batteries are going bad?

Are these fobs rechargable via the wireless charging?

I missed that. Hmmm, thats interesting. A new mystery ?️‍♂ Maybe HVAC leaking out would be my guess?

Most likely. It surprised me but maybe a lot of cars do that. I wouldn't know, I'm always watching the soap and light show from the inside.

No idea and no way to lock the height setting. It adjusts on its own while driving. On the highway that wouldn't be so bad, but then it drops down while sitting still at lights too. Sometimes it just raises up when I park but not consistently. I suppose it tries to lower itself for efficiency but I always run in standard mode. Every now and then I'll notice the ride is kind of rougher than usual and I'll find out its put itself in low height setting for whatever reason.

Wonder if it's always adjusting the height intentionally or if there is a bad sensor causing it to adjust when it normally shouldn't.

Can other owners pitch in? Does your R1T have mind of it’s own as well on hight adjustment? This would seriously bug me too.

It depends on what setting you have the truck in. Conserve mode does change the height settings all the time. Although Sport mode, does not. I've been in sport mode for the last 2 weeks.
