Love the fist bump, funny how the light collided. Awesome that there are enough Rivians out so that they have the chance to meet up!

In Annapolis MD two Rivians become fast friends and give each a fist bump!

Nice. Dying to see El Cap up close. How do you guys (assuming one of them is yours) getaway with running around without front plate in Maryland?

I see these questions a lot. I live in NJ where a front plate is required. I’ve probably driven the last 20 years or so with various cars having no front plate. I think I’ve been pulled over for it once. Twice at the most and it’s a warning. Don’t think twice….

As long as they don't scratch each other's door.... because Gary and Gary would be quite upset ?

I think for the next year or two police will be looking for an excuse to stop a Rivian and talk to the owner. So stats may differ a bit ;)

hi!
for now we still have the temporary tags which only goes on the back. I do have an Audi ETron (in process of selling) that I have had for a year and a half and I never got around to putting front plate on. I have not been pulled over yet (knock on wood!)

it was funny, I purposely parked next to the guy and I had never met him before but he came out while I was still in parking garage and we started talking and all of a sudden he said “look at how the lights are lined up” so it was not staged at all and a complete surprise so of course we both took pictures.

he said he has already found an off road trail so he is sending me the information. He ordered the tent but it has not arrived yet but he found a different tent that seems to fit perfectly, I do not have picture unfortunately or I would share. It is nice to have met the guy to exchange experiences, he is definitely more of a camping person than I, I do a lot of fishing and pull boat around to different spots. I am definitely interested in hearing more stories of how people are utilizing their Rivian and all it has to offer so I might hear of some fun things to do!

do you think they will pull over just to talk about the car or intentionally wanting to write a ticket? I have been chased down by people who see me on road so they can talk about the vehicle. The number of double takes I get is unbelievable! I had two occasions within 5 minutes where I was at stop light and people in car to left of me were just staring at my truck, of course I waved to both of them, the first vehicle were so focused on the vehicle they did not see me waving, when they did they started historically laughing ?

I'm in the same state and I've got at least half a dozen tickets.

It ends up on the record as no front plate/fraudulent plate. Apparently once you get one, they just keep coming.

it is interesting as I am seeing more and more Rivians in my area. I have always wondered how the delivery dates were determined because I was not expecting mine for a while yet? They just opened locations in Washington DC and Rockville MD so I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I think my VIN is 3,733, it is definitely under 3,800.

Aaaaaand...so Son, that is the story on how your R2T was born.

interesting! I better put that front plate on my Audi right now so I don’t get ticket before I sell it! I never put it on because the people at Audi dealership said I should have technician put it on and not to do it myself? I am still not sure why, how hard could it be to attach a license plate?!

If you've been fine, chances are you'll remain fine. That first ticket kind of opens the flood gates though. We had a Tesla that didn't come with a front plate and after a couple of tickets we transferred the car's registration to my wife's name. Never had a problem again driving in the exact same towns...

As for the license plate attachment, it's a piece of cake. For most front bumpers you drill into the bumper. If it comes with a front plate mount, you attach that. If it doesn't, you use a wood type screw and it'll grab the bumper.

But if you're selling the car, just leave it. It's not worth drilling into in case your buyer wants no front plate. We still run every car not in my name w/o a front plate...
