Doesn't that depend on your state? Would be hard to compare across the board. For example, Texas is a flat fee based on weight.

What some for whom this is their first BEV may not be expecting is an extra couple hundred bucks fee to cover gas taxes lost by the state.

In Texas, the base fee is $54/year for vehicles 6000-10000lbs. Add on a few little things here and there and until Texas imposes an EV tax like ajdelange mentioned (which they surely will because...TX) it will be at or under about $120/year if I recall from my last registration
