Here is a comprehensive list of all of the issues our R1T had over the last 10 days…

1. ……

None. Drove from Philly Burbs to DC, DC to Lewes, DE, drove on the ferry, drove off the ferry, drove around CM, Cape May back to Philly. Truck charged fine, drove effortlessly, was stuffed with Bikes, luggage, three kids and my better half.

Had to post this as prior to the trip there were so many horror stories, I nearly took an ICE car. Glad I didn’t ?

Damnit, Steve. Stories like this will keep me in line until Q2, 2023.

Stop posting positive experiences with your Rivian, all people want to hear are the charging horror stories!!!

So, at least for now, throw a couple of negative things in your post to get a couple people to cancel their reservations, and I can jump ahead a fews spots in the reservation queue!!!!

I had a ~1,000 mile road trip over the 4th. The only thing that went wrong was we found out that the panel gap between the front right quarter panel and door is too small and they pinch when it's very hot out.

That being said, I checked the EA app ahead of time and knew that one station along the route was down (and had been for about a week). The Rivian nav doesn't have real time EA status, so it could have pointed us to that charger if we weren't careful (though it didn't by luck). So about 5 minutes of due dilligence saved what would have been a bit of a headache.

I went on a road trip over the weekend, needed to charge at the EA station in Bend. When I arrived there 1/4 stalls was out of order, it has been out of order for weeks as far as I can tell.

<sarcasm>
It was such a travesty that I had to use one of the 3 working stations to get charged. In fact on my return trip 2 of those 3 chargers were occupied so I had to block traffic to back into the station so it could reach the charge port.

Such a bad experience, I think I need to sell the truck immediately. So who wants to buy a RB R1T with almost 9k miles and a lot of pinstriping on the side?

Damnit, Bryce and Drew!!!! Help a brother out here!!!!!

You guys gotta stop with the positive Rivian stories and providing details on how you knew to easily check an app to save yourselves a lot of pain.

I need all the help I can get to skip forward in the reservation queue!!!!!

[not sarcasm!!]

We need an exclusive positive thread so people can have a visit before cancellation. I am getting old and am not as "adventurous" as I used to be. In other words the total grin is what I count. If I have to be stranded in the beginning of a vacation, 0-60 grin is not going to offset it so I need more of these stories. Let's see who can top the OP with higher total mileage of trouble free ownership.

Sorry in advance, @Denver_Paulie, but two more recent successes for us.

Took a week around the 4th weekend to trek up to Whistler.

Left home with 85% SoC, arrived at a Vancouver hotel with range to spare. Plugged in overnight at the hotel. Woke up with 85% SoC. Moved off the charger that morning, stayed another night. Continued along to Whistler. Left the truck the first night on a public Level 2 charger there. Moved it in the morning with 85% SoC.

Had plenty of juice for Gary to record the gawkers for the remaining 4 nights and to shuttle us about town. Didn't need to charge again before starting the trip home. Fast charged at EVGo at the Bellingham Haggen. The session was a little finicky and didn't initiate until the 2nd attempt. The speed was good though the R1T throttled down from ~210kW to ~150-160kW fairly early for thermal management. We stayed on the charger for a total of about 16 minutes before continuing to home. Arrived home with plenty to spare, added 87kWh overnight, and woke up with a 70% SoC.

We also made a spontaneous day trip down to Portland on Saturday.

Since it was unplanned, we left home with 70% SoC. On the way down, we stopped in Vancouver, WA to top up (14% -> 50%, 57kWh). This session was 19m 35s long (we walked the dogs and popped into the walmart to pee and buy drinks). The session was a little fussy to start, but it went on the 2nd or 3rd attempt with the first plug we tried.

After driving around Portland and making extensive use of pet mode, we started the trip home. Stopped at the Kelso EA and ran into our biggest set of troubles. The 350kW chargers were out of service and the 150kW ones were being fussy. But after trying a few different sequences (app vs NFC; plug in first or second) over the course of about 5-10 minutes, we got a session to spin up. Held a pretty steady 160kW for about 20 minutes (I guess they were having backend trouble because it couldn't link to my account and wound up being a free session, but I also don't have the detailed stats because I don't have a receipt). Anyways, another bit of running the dogs. Popped in and observed a very, very sad rural mall. And we were on our way home expecting to arrive with about 40-50mi of range.

On the way, we wound up making plans for arrival which would have been a tad tight on the remaining range. So we popped onto the EA at the Landing for a 7-minute session (ran in to buy something to take to our friends' house). No grief getting that session started and added 16kWh to go from 24%->33%. Ran our errands, visited our friends, and arrived home with plenty of range to spare.

I do wish the truck would sustain higher charge rates for longer. I feel like it should be managing the heat better so as not to require thermal throttling so early in the session. Though the difference in charge rate probably accounts for less time than I spent fussing with re-initiating sessions trying to get them to start in the first place. All in, we lost about 10-15 minutes of travel time on each trip due to the session issues and temperature issues. There's certainly room for improvement, but I never felt unduly delayed, stressed, or like I was going to be stranded.

Well my R1T has 8872 miles, yet to be stranded at a CCS station including over 30 unique EA stations in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Arizona and California.

Only issues I have ever encountered are "Unplug and Try Again" errors from the Rivian that is fixed by a hard reset (or a sleep cycle or so I'm told) and the occasional down/slow stall where I had to switch

I have some pretty mixed feelings about this thread now.

Super glad Rivian owners are out enjoying their trucks, seeing the world, and not having any issues charging. These are experiences I have enjoyed in my Taycan, and can't wait to do that in my Rivian, when it arrives.

On the other hand, you guys are not helping me move forward in the reservation queue so cool it with all the positivity!!!!!!

I just did a 600ish mile trip in an R1T with a Kuat rack that has a swingout arm and two bikes. I drove from Gallup, NM to Pagosa Springs, CO via Durango. The whole trip was 212 miles but I needed to charge in Durango because of the drag from the bikes and the heat (I'm guessing). Durango has two fast chargers right in town that charged it back to 100% while I ate in town. Pagosa also has fast chargers as well. Zero problems and tons of questions and interest. You can't open the tailgate all the way with the Kuat without swinging it out but that's very easy. I can pull into my garage with the bikes on. Hopefully more towns in my area will follow suit (I'm looking at you Flagstaff and Sedona). Flag has a level 3 charger but its at Walmart which isn't close enough to town. Sedona only has Tesla ones.

Hate to break it to you but the happiest owners have tossed their laptops into an off-the-beaten-path lake at the top of a rutted service road. They wouldn't have time to post anyway because their smores are almost ready and they don't want them to burn... Please expect far more stories in the forums with sad faces.

Sorry about all this positivity but I also wanted to mention that I just was out today at an obscure canyon in the Zuni mountains of NM and noticed a very steep rocky hill that I would have never considered driving up with anything I've owned. I drove up it effortlessly. The guy I was with couldn't believe how easy it was.

Good to hear from a fellow Marylander. Hopefully it is not just luck and it is the QC people in our area doing a good job before delivery.
