@Liz83 I wouldn’t be worried about the BPA in terms of price or anything really.
Rivian is trying to make sense of their situation and streamline their production by reducing their options.
If you really like this vehicle, T or S, you’ll make it happen. Just don’t add any options and pick white or silver. It will be worth it. The $5k over a few years will not make much of a monthly payment difference if you’re financing. Good luck

If I was a Max Pack order holder, I would be a little nervous at this point. Rivian may decide to convert those folks from long term $1K deposit holders to near term paid in full $80K/delivered customers too. Every EV maker is forecasting hard to source battery materials for the next several years to come at a minimum. Offering a particularly huge battery pack option during the near term doesn't sound like a good financial strategy for Rivian.

I went into the shop to see what FE models were available. They say they can deliver the one I chose on Saturday.

The VIN I got is 9312. Only 62 more than the 2018 Model 3 I'm trading in for it.

With the lightning you get a lot and you get a brand that will be here in 5 years. Hopefully for all of us, Amazon will help Rivian straighten things out, otherwise we might have orphan trucks.

I highly doubt it with a huge financial backer like Amazon.

I think the worst case scenario would be an acquisition by another legacy automaker who wants to enter the BEV pickup truck space quickly.

I can already think of a legacy auto company that would be a perfect fit for R1 line of BEV trucks. Volvo.

They currently don’t have a pickup truck in their portfolio. I can already visualize a Volvo emblem on the hood. The styling, luxury, safety, price point and form factor fit the brand perfectly.

I like the idea.
I know that they make larger trucks but never thought they’d be interested in making pickups. Besides I believe that their parent company, Geely, is already in the EV business.

I'm not worried about an orphan truck. I owned a DeLorean for 30 years. I am still hopeful that Rivian is here to stay.

Wait, then you should be able to go & come back & tell us if Rivian survives 20 years from now & if they’ll still be electric or have migrated to using Mr. Fusion by then.

I also am extremely disappointed at the cancellation of R1S Explore package. This just hit me with a stealth $5500 price increase that functionally only benefits me possibly with $300 tow hooks. I listen to Am radio and nothing else in the Adventure package has any use to me.

I hate to break it to you but I'm pretty sure I saw in some video that the Rivian stereo doesn't have AM radio.

I would have thought Land Rover. The R1S already resembles one anyway. Would give them a truck in their lineup. Just change the nose and tail to Land Rover and most wouldn't notice the difference!
