Hello fellow Adventurers and Explorers ( oh wait: there are no more explorers, just adventurers).
Ordered my Forest on Forest in January 22, I know I was kind of late but looking at Rivian as a new company, the way they started, the product that they built( all good things to see), I said to myself that the wait is worth. Recently, I'm having thoughts about all this Adventure, mainly because I can't get answers to simple questions( I think), I see the company moving away from what made them original at the beginning.
A few questions that I have, please:
1) How can I find my number in line? ( I checked the email for the order and couldn't find it)
2) If I open a talking channel on youtube, will I get a truck quicker?
3) Is Rivian doing something to prevent flipping ?
4)How do we know that the later orders with the higher price are not moved ahead on line?
5) Why is it bad for a company to keep everything clear, open, honest ? How is it efficient for a company to pay people to do (say) nothing ?
Thank you

I'll answer your questions with a question:

Why is this titled "Forest on Forest questions" when literally none of these have anything to do about your color choices?

No offense, but this isn't a great first post on a forum for enthusiasts. All of this is discussed in detail throughout many threads on the forum.

Would you say he was an Explorer or an Adventurer?
I would say the difference is largely one of intent, so I will call him an adventurer.

I will take a stab at your questions:

1. They don’t give sequential order numbers anymore and at some point last year stopped telling people their order #s entirely. But even if you did have an order # it wouldn’t necessarily tell you when you would get a truck. I ordered in 12/2021 and I still have never been given a delivery window. That seems to rely more on what configuration you have and what Rivian is able to build at the moment. For example, some who ordered in Q4 2021 have gotten trucks delivered already while others who have been waiting 3 years are still waiting.

2. Probably not.

3. No.

4. We don’t.

5. It isn’t bad. Rivian is a new company and doing their best to navigate this craziness.

Hello Mr. Mabowden. I wanted to reply and apologize to you( and to anybody else here with the same opinion as yours). You are right, that is not nicest way to say Hello to a community. My frustration with a few very blurry things about this Adventure went a little sideways and I thought that this will be a place to check on that. I read more posts over the weekend ( including yours) and I concluded that I am a different kind of enthusiast. Again, my apologies to you and good luck to Rivian.

Maybe I was too harsh.

1) How can I find my number in line? ( I checked the email for the order and couldn't find it)
Unfortunately unless they tell you, it's anybody's guess. Assume mid-late 2023 if you don't have a date yet.
2) If I open a talking channel on youtube, will I get a truck quicker?
We all hope not, but large youtube channel hosts have jumped the line. These folks have 1M+ subscribers.
3) Is Rivian doing something to prevent flipping ?
No. There isn't much that can be done for a new brand (not ferrari) to prevent flipping.
4)How do we know that the later orders with the higher price are not moved ahead on line?
We don't know, but over the last few months (after the R1Shop)deliveries really have seemed to be geared towards the earliest reservations.
5) Why is it bad for a company to keep everything clear, open, honest ? How is it efficient for a company to pay people to do (say) nothing ?
Rivian is not great at communication. They have a million things going on and the life of their company depends on getting vehicles out. They have way too large of a staff to justify their current sales, so they need to SCALE. Unfortunately this means bad communication from time to time. I'm hoping as they scale this improves, unlike the current Tesla, for example.
