How's this for bad luck

I snapped up one of the R1T's when a bunch dropped in the shop last week. Got almost exactly what I was looking for, was making my way through the delivery steps with my very helpful guide, and... today I find out that the truck was damaged in transit. Badly enough that they're not going to fix it but instead build a new one. I'm not complaining since it does look like I'll still get it fairly soon, but dammit anyway.

Yeah. The only thing the one I grabbed from the shop didn't have was the full size spare. Should get that now and yeah, a new VIN. Probably a win in the long term.

Man, that sucks. I think building you a new one was probably the way to go even though it sucks to have to wait. Kudos to Rivian for not trying to downlow repair it and try and give you something that is already damaged goods.

I'm picking up at the factory or bust for the very reason that we seem to have a lot of accidents just trying to get R1Ts to their patiently waiting owners!

Picking up at the factory should workout for Rivian too because I'm still going to pay the destination fee and they don't have to destination my truck (unless pulling it around back is risky business!).

Since I have to fly in from the WMA and drive back, I'm going to ask them at the factory if they will at least pony up some "gas money" and we'll see what they say!

Kinda funny, my guide was walking on eggshells explaining that they tried to fix it but determined it was beyond repair for a new delivery. I wholeheartedly agree- I don't want it delivered with so much as a scratch

It'll probably become a loaner, or be sold used at some point after they use it for a year as an corporate test car or something.
