Rivian R1T R1S ? Estimated Delivery Date Window is LIVE! What’s Yours?! ? 8B5C7CBF-1460-47BC-AE4F-D65FFB0D3A91

Originally ordered 11/21. Made the mistake of changing colors and wheels a few times a week for 10 months because the figuration tool is fun (and I’m a fool). Oh well. Truth be told, I’m still not sure what color I want, but I’ll cross that bridge later I guess.

Just 3 days away from my delivery window of Nov-Dec 2022 opening...
Now Jan-Feb 2023 delivery estimate

3 days away from my window opening they kick it down the road another 2 months!
I have not changed my config (other than switching from FG to LA Silver exterior 1 month ago) since they allowed "no/manual tonneau" option months ago.

I will try to be positive about this.. at least I well be getting a 2023 model year vehicle now...
Sorry man. Just as you were probably starting to get excited. I would keep in mind it’s still possible they beat the estimate.

Sorry Broccoli Rob. Let's look at the bright side: your ocean coast and manual tonneau dreams will be a reality.

I was really hoping to get the truck in December because of the unknown tax credit implications (hey $7500 is 7500). Looks like that is just barely an option.
Yeah, I'm not a kid any more so I'm not gonna cry "I want it now!!" but it's disappointing that I was literally a few days from my delivery window opening and they slammed it shut on my fingers!

My trade in vehicle (2019 Mazda) will be a year older and lower in value in 2023 :(

I'm a bit concerned about the tax credit too.. let's see how that play out since TY 2022 is now (barring some 2022 miracle delivery happening) off the table for me.

Haven't really seen many moving up in delivery date, most seem to be getting pushed back a couple months at least. One poster mentioned "maybe they are concentrating on EDV's for Amazon?"... but aren't they run on a completely isolated line with their own dedicated personnel?

Maybe they'll come up with a permanent solution to the half-shaft/CV-Joint and "leaning" issues by Feb 23?

I got the updated delivery date posted to my account yesterday. "November-December 2022" changed to "January - February 2023". I am disappointed, but not surprised. I had been assuming for months that this exact delay would occur, that's why I purchased my Audi e-Tron when the lease was over. The "good news" to me is that maybe my chances of getting a powered tonneau (new design) have increased because of this delay. Here's the email I got when they posted the date:

Hi Ralph,
Your delivery window estimate is now in your Account. Your window has moved back due to an adjustment in our build plan. We apologize for this shift in timing and the impact it has on your ability to plan. We are working hard to ramp and deliver as many vehicles as possible.
As a reminder, your current estimate is based on your configuration as of October 16, 2022. Moving forward, we plan to refresh your estimate every three months, which means you can expect updates in January, April, July, and October of each calendar year.

If at any time you reconfigure or change your delivery address, your delivery estimate in your Account will update to “processing” pending our next scheduled refresh. It’s important to note that changing your configuration will almost always result in your delivery estimate moving back.

Please visit the Support Center for more on delivery timing estimates, or feel free to reach out.

Your enthusiasm for what we are building remains so important to our work.

Thanks, even worst case (if they stick to the new estimate) is they moved it out another 60 days.
Rivian is kind of crazy with their estimates, I don't have a rare config and am 57mi from the Brooklyn SC.. so who knows maybe Santa will deliver an R1T to me? ?

Have you even looked at this thread? You changed your config a month ago and you are still getting your vehicle in 2-3 months. Some people were pushed back to 2024. I would be thrilled if I were you

I am by turns, pleased, not surprised and supremely disappointed.

I was please to see that I was wrong about the timing of the delivery feature and pleased to see that Rivian made their target date (I predicted Dec).

I was not at all surprised to learn that my delivery window shifted dramatically and kind of expected at least another year delay.

I am hugely disappointed to have been given both a long additional delay combined with a 12-month window.

As you can see, my new delivery window is simply sometime in 2024. I expected that it would be pushed out considerably and since my previous delivery window was 1H2023, this means a delay of at least another year from that. What is much more disheartening is the complete lack of detail as to when in 2024. My guess is the latter part of the year, but there is always the chance of being pushed to 2025.

What is kind of ironic is that I was assigned a guide several months ago; a 2024 delivery will not only be a full four years after placing my reservation, it will mean that I will have had a guide for two years. I wonder what kind of interaction my guide and I will have over the next 24 months.

On a less whimsical level, I wonder if I will still be able to take advantage of my PBA and the $7,500 tax credit when I file in 2025. My guess is that it will be problematic since the paperwork for the sale will have been dated 2022.

The Rivian experience is truly a unique adventure.

It’s true that anyone who is lucky enough to see little or no change in their delivery window should feel good about their situation. However, things are still very random and could change in either direction for anyone. I have changed my configuration a couple times since I placed my order (just the tonneau) and in the end I think it didn’t actually change my place in line much at all.

Others have not changed any part of their order from years ago and still got pushed back (again).

Patterns we have seen in Rivian’s (lottery) process:
  • Proximity to a SC is probably the #1 factor in who gets a vehicle when. Some who live far away have managed to get their vehicles delivered but Rivian seems to be making this a bigger factor now. Those not near an SC got that dreaded “processing estimate” message yesterday. This obviously screws over any US customers not lucky enough to live near an SC, and most Canadian customers. Since Rivian decided to take these orders the fair thing to do would be offer customers not close to a SC the option of taking delivery and waiving the free service pick up option. At least that way you get to choose whether you wait or not.
  • Configuration and supply chain issues will remain a wild card factor. The early R1T adopters were affected by this and Rivian eventually came up with some additional options, like alternatives to the OC wood. R1S customers seem to be feeling the effects of rear door parts shortages right now. Max Pack orders got pushed back to 2024, which sucks but is not entirely surprising. If it’s any solace, there is the likelihood Rivian will release that with 800v charging tech. Still painful for those who have already been waiting years.
  • It is possible yesterday they gave everyone the most conservative estimate possible to finally get in front of this. People are always going to be happier if you tell them something can’t be done soon and you deliver earlier. This is what I would do if I were in their shoes, even if it freaks some people out to see their window pushed out farther. They really can’t win either way with that since they already botched the delivery window process. Either people are pissed the window is missed several times or they are pissed the window is so far out from day 1.
Hang in there everyone. It’s still a better day than 3/1/22?
