I get the physics. It’s a big duh. But with all of the hate and debate I’ve had over the years; I find it hilarious that we’ve suddenly gone from driving wussy liberal fake truck hemp wagons to driving bonafide high performance street cruise missiles.

WTF…

“He points out that electric vehicles have very high horsepower ratings, allowing them to accelerate quickly even in crowded urban areas”

*This is not a political post. Using “liberal” as a broad term to simply describe negative connotation when driving an EV, whereas not necessarily negative politically.

Hysterical. I totally agree with you. Hopefully this post doesn't get the same hate I got when I made a slightly conservative post on this forum...

The same criticisms have applied to large/ heavy trucks vs smaller cars for decades. It’s accurate, but safety tech in smaller cars has also improved over that time.

I’m not trying to hype anything political and this post is not meant to be conservative. If it were, it’d be an oxymoron. The point is purely the idiocy of the article.

Gonna have to echo the other poster and point out the gear tunnel is tailor made for rifles. My pelican case for my AR-10 even fits really well.

I'm seeing a proliferation of "the problem with EV articles" lately. Most make a couple one or more of three points

1) We're not designing efficient EVs, you can build x Leafs for every F150/R1T. So we're wasting resources because as a society we're obsessed with big trucks/SUVs

2) A variation on 1 - regardless of vehicle size we're overbuilding battery capacity as most folks don't need 300 mies of range. We could get by w/ much less day to day w/ the tradeoff being cheaper vehicles that need to spend time once in awhile at a fast charger to get through the odd day vs their typical one

3) EVs are too fast and too heavy and will kill a lot of people (I actually wonder how long before the federal government steps in and caps acceleration / top speed - or at least until some person in congress introduces legislation to do this).

I read that article earlier. I actually agree that these heavy EV’s are potentially dangerous and that we as owners we have to be aware and responsible driving them.

I hope cities can become more pedestrian friendly and safer, too. Pedestrian safety is actually huge problem here in Phoenix, AZ.

Not a bad thing at all to call attention to potential safety issues. We as drivers and owners should be aware and responsible.

The title of this thread is far more alarmist, exaggerating, and misleading.

However, I do think the following in the article is ridiculous and misguided:

“Michael Brooks, executive director of the nonprofit Center for Auto Safety, said he, too, is concerned about the weight of EVs because buyers seem to be demanding a range of 300 or more miles per charge, requiring heavy batteries.

Setting up a charging network to accommodate that may be a mistake from a safety perspective, Brooks said.”

#4 is our grossly outdated national grid can’t handle all the new EVs

The title of the thread is none of those things. It’s a joke. It’s in jest and not meant to mislead or offend anyone. I would hope anyone with a sense of humor could see that. Stop.
