I just completed my last step which was uploading insurance.

I was having issues with uploading proof because I tried to get a Nationwide quote on the day I made my shop selection.

When I went back to upload proof, the system wanted me to continue with a Nationwide quote.

Every time I tried to get a quote it would fail and say the Nationwide insurance platform is temporarily unavailable. I was stuck in a loop trying to satisfy the insurance requirement of uploading proof.

A quick text to my guide and he was able to reset the 8th step so I could go back and re-start the process but this time upload proof instead of running a quote.

Officially took delivery this morning. Overall a good experience. I just wish they had addressed all the panel gap/ panel alignment issues prior to delivering the vehicle. I have to open up a service ticket for those items.

For anyone with a launch edition, my R1S was delivered without the wrist band key and first aid kit. I was told to reach out to my guide for both items as they didn’t come with the vehicle.

Officially took delivery this morning. Overall a good experience. I just wish they had addressed all the panel gap/ panel alignment issues prior to delivering the vehicle. I have to open up a service ticket for those items.

For anyone with a launch edition, my R1S was delivered without the wrist band key and first aid kit. I was told to reach out to my guide for both items as they didn’t come with the vehicle.

I feel like many service centers are packed. While I was taking delivery two trucks pulled up to unload R1S’s. Rivians about to report some crazy delivery numbers this quarter.

Congrats! Probably both just out of stock, we got the wrist band a couple weeks, I’ve never used it but my wife said it works well, apparently it’s the updated version. I’m sure you’ll get them soon.

Um, maybe I'm being daft, but I didn't know/think a LE had a first aid kit. I thought it was just the wrist band and the "launch edition" on the dash in addition to the wheel upgrades, etc.

Where is the first aid kit supposed to be in the vehicle, or do they just hand it to you separately?

Sorry I should have clarified. The launch edition gets you the badging, wrist band key and free wheel upgrade. The first aid kit in the trunk on mine was also missing so they told me to get with my guide to get it. It should be part of every R1 regardless of trim.

Sorry should have clarified I got mine at delivery but was thinking maybe they are oos temporarily.

Congratulations! My LE came with the first aid kit but no wrist band key. I asked by delivery person and he said it should come with one and provided an electronic due bill. It’s interesting that we got different info and a different path to get the missing item(s).

I went by the service center to look at the vehicle and inspect it for items that were missed during quality control. We spent about 45 minutes checking out the car and went on 24 minute test drive. I picked up some Chick-Fil-A breakfast for the Rivian crew to thank them for their time.

Overall the vehicle is in excellent condition and nothing seems to be a major deal breaker that would prevent me from taking delivery on Saturday. I am happy enough to double down on my RIVN shares allocation as soon as I left the service center. The end of the quarter push is real and they have really improved their quality from what I can see. I would imagine they will have it really buttoned up by the end of the year in regards to their QC and assembly process.

I did not see any major panel gaps issues, overspray or cracks in the glass. The rear hatch was aligned damn good and I only noticed it was slightly off when comparing the top of the rear hatch to the Chrome trim on the passenger side. I asked them to address that but not disturb it too much since the rest of it was damn near perfect.

All the items I noticed with Rivian are similar items I had experienced when I purchased / owned my Infiniti. I've spent over 6 years working with Infiniti to address everything.

I've spent countless numbers of hours at dealerships and in loaner cars trying to address noise/vibration/harshness and defects / issues.

I would expect the similar experience with Rivian and a new start-up.

I did not spend any time trying to stress test the AC. The weather was 85 degrees and to me everything sounded normal. I was able to have a conversation with my rep just fine.

We did speak about the AC hum noise recently mentioned on the forum and my rep did mention a hum noise is heard when its warmer outside like triple digits and you first begin to cool the car. Pre-conditioning your car ahead of time helps cut down the amount of time you will hear the noise. It will still be there but you won't be in the car listening to it while its working to cool down. That was still not acceptable to me.

We did agree that it might be normal for Rivian but its not normal for a vehicle that's even half the price. I let my rep know I would expect some sort of campaign once the root cause has been identified to resolve this matter if it does happen on my vehicle.

I took the vehicle on a 14 mile / 24 min test drive to check for alignment, wind noise and other loud noises.

Alignment was overall good to me and steering wheel was centered. I noticed a slight drift to the right but that could've been the wind pushing the car along with the crowning of the road. I am having my rep check if the alignment is within spec before I pick it up tomorrow.

The below issues are what I noticed that I would like addressed before I pick up the vehicle.

  • Alignment of hood. Lower on the driver side and higher on the passenger side.
  • General vehicle alignment with before and after printout of caster, camber and toe values.
  • Door seals on passenger front / rear door and driver rear door.
  • one small dimple / ding on driver door which will need PDR (future appointment required possible with collision center)
  • Wind noise and whistling noise when driving 50 miles per hour or higher
  • Scratches on lower dash knee panel towards the center of the entertainment stack
  • Couple marks in the clear coat that need to be buffed and couple marks of grease finger marks on ocean coast vinyl on the driver door panel card.
  • Chrome trim on the rear hatch passenger side in relation to the hatch itself could be aligned little better.
  • Buzz and creak by the dash or center console.
