Scorpion AS+ tire swap (from 20" Scorpion AT) - WOW big difference

Exactly, this is what people have been doing. A bit of a hassle and varied costs reported to have them recalibrate. Hopefully they eventually make it simply changeable in software.

(And sorry, corrected my size error on initial post, 275/60/20)

I wonder how good or bad it would be if you went with the scorpion as in the factory 20 inch size?

Defenders would've been about $700 more for all 5. I might try them next time for ease of big box store service, rotations, etc. I've really wanted to try the 275/60/20 and am happy with the first 100 miles.

You get to say "I told you so" when we get a blowout next week though ??

I'm sure you'll still see some efficiency improvement with an AS 275/65/20 but not as much as going 275/60/20.

Total damage for the 4 tires was $950 from Walmart, no less.

These tires really transformed an already awesome vehicle. I drove back and forth today from suburban MD (DC area) to the marina on the Chesapeake where we keep our sailboat (78 degrees and sun today - in February- it would have been the sin of ingratitude not to play hooky from work).

The country roads on the last 15 mile stretch to the Bay are beautiful and winding. The car just molded itself to the road with the new tires. It felt like liquid. I can't explain.

There are little or no alternatives in 21", and those tires don't last as long as advertised.

There are so many different options in 20" of well-established tires and manufacturers. Besides the obvious ATs, there are a lot of AS and winter tires too. Also, price points are a lot more reasonable.

If you catch a flat out in the middle of nowhere or (God I hope I don't jinx myself) blowout and don't have a full spare with you, you can easily find 20" options in most towns. 21"? You can barely find it in big cities.

While there are fewer tires available for 21” wheels generally, the OE tire is the only tire in existence in that specific OE size 275/55/21. Living in LA I had to wait 5 days for Americas Tire to get one in to repair mine (luckily I had a spare so I wasn’t stranded) and it cost over $450.

The 20’s allow you a greater tire selection— either coming from 21’s and keeping the same tire diameter by getting a 275/60/20 tire, or from All Terrain tires to All Seasons in the OE 275/65/20 size. The former should be more efficient as the 20” wheel and tire are lighter than the OE 21’s but with the same overall tire diameter.

I've got discount tire direct priced at $965 installed for the Scorpion. This seems like a great price for a 70k warranty "best" rated tire.

Costco has the Bridgestone Alenza with a 55k mile warranty for $961 installed, but that includes nitrogen and road hazard as well. For the loss of 15k in tread mile warranty I don't think I see the advantage, but would be curious if anyone has experience with this tire?

Neither will actually install your tires. I ordered from Discount Tire Direct and shipped to my house, then took to local place for install at $30 each on 5 tires.

I am doing the same thing. Discount Direct to my house then install with the local tire shop that I've Used in the past. Just wanted to keep my post simple.

Pulled the trigger. They are running a price match promo + $110 off + I stacked my wife's military discount for another 5%.

I have them on my truck currently. Great efficiency and ride quiet but I don't know how long they are going to make it. Seem to be wearing slightly faster than I would have hoped
