I just watched your third video, and holy cr@p man, what is going on with that column? When boss-man is taking photos.

Unless this is just bad artifacting from your camera, this place looks like it could go at any minute. I'd stay as far away as possible. You've seen video of the Surfside condo collapse, right? ?

Edit: Also there's debris on the ground to the right of the column.
You have no idea how disgusting some of these get. No one really cares, they don't fall down. NYC employs a lot of building inspectors heh.

They're pretty reliable on the whole. I parked in a monthly spot in midtown for 5 years and never once had any damage from the garage. Ironically, it was an Icon lot :CWL:

I meant recovery from the parking lot. From my own experience even with dashcam video and valet ADMITTING they they hit something my insurance wasn't able to recover anything. I lost my $500 deductible on this butthole.

That audio is amazing, how did you not win that claim? ?. But also sorry.

Another weirdness, one deleted angle on the last video
Maybe Rivian needs to require a PIN to permanently delete.

This is unreal how they didn't cover your deductible over this. I would be taking the company to small claims with this video and getting my 500 back and any insurance increase. You can also sue them for attorney fees and court costs and it's a slam dunk. They don't plan on you doing it because it's going to cost you another 500 to recover that fee or maybe a little bit more, but you WILL get that money back in judgement.

I would also sue for time lost off work to appear in court. Your insurance company probably didn't bother because it was just cheaper to make you pay and cover the rest from their standpoint. For me it's principle though, and I wouldn't mind throwing money at a lawyer until I was made whole over this. Usually once the company at fault realizes this they will pay you what you ask to go away.

I started a separate thread here because I'm finding out personally here that's definitely the kind of thing that needs to happen. I figured that discussion was worth having on its own and not wrapped up in related but unrelated insurance drama.

I think this is the kind of feedback Rivian wants/needs, especially from early fleet owners when they're eyeing the commercial sector hard. They do ask me questions at the service center, like I know when I spoke to one of the techs about wanting a chill mode and other user-related things for rentals he was definitely going to bring it up at the next meeting.

I don't know how much longer these early days of authentic two-way communication are going to exist with a major OEM but it's nice while we have it.

Or a valet mode that allows you to configure to lock down access to all the modes, the music, the speed and acceleration and keeps the GPS from being overwritten. A pin or the mobile app would be required to enter valet mode and exit said mode.

This mode would have dual use for commercial fleet purposes. Seems like a slam dunk permissions thing across the board. Is this thread enough to give the feedback? I'll bring it up with the tech today of course.

They'd be ahead of Tesla in this regard for minimal effort (someone correct me if I'm wrong I don't have any Teslas at the moment).

Update: Rivian service advisor says there's a 100% chance they deleted the files because there's nothing before the 31st and it's got a 10-day expiration.

The plot thickens. About to be in the renters hands I guess, the parking lot finally responded and was like, "file a claim please" and I bassically sent them an e-mail being like, "you wish it was me filing the claim, someone who is going to come for your job because you tried to take advantage of him is filing the claim and is now hearing from Rivian that videos were deleted off the car"

I'm so done with this business guys. It's nothing like what I expected, I thought the renters would be terrible and the people in the industry would be fine to deal with but it's he people in the industry with the LEAST TO LOSE who routinely lie for their own benefit.

I just can't play nice in this sector, I thought corporate experience in automotive would give me a leg up, didn't think "empathy" was going to be my problem, lol.

If I don't begin liquidating my fleet tomorrow, literally, I want someone here to meet me IRL smack me and set my cars on fire.

It's been a brutal week, this Rivian is just the straw on the camels back, but again, the idea that they deleted the files, the guy in middle management coming over and looking. It's just, fuck any business where par for the course is, "I'm taking what's mine, fuck the truth and what's right"

I can't operate there. I don't know why anyone would voluntarily want to do that, find a new line of work, parking garage manager isn't impressive.

I’m really sorry this happened. I lost my faith in humanity a long time ago so I can’t say I’m surprised they behaved this way, but it still sucks. :asshat:

Sadly that is too common today. Lots of business people who will outright lie to you and steal from you in a big way if it enriches their lives even a tiny amount. The way I think of it is that I'd rather they try it with me than someone who cannot fight back.

Justice in this country is really only for the people who can afford representation. I'd be suing the garage for any legal recourse I can. I feel that if I can get a little bit of justice against the unjust and the scammers it is one less to mess with someone who can't fight back.

That might not change a whole lot in this world but it makes me feel a little better.

My old boss of 8 years once said in frustration about me, "Man you're the dumbest smart guy" and it just was like such an amazing moment of introspection in that I realized, "hey you're right, I'm a naive fucktard."

Honestly? The more I channel the happy naivety the more friends I make, the same can't be said for the supposed "smart guy" so there's that.

OP, Sorry this happened to you. You sound like an honest man. If every honest person gave up because there are dishonest people then where would that leave society.

It’s never that black and white. You have to be yourself and bring your own personality and experience to each situation. In my life I have seen too many people behaving badly, both towards each other and towards me. It’s made me pretty cynical.

But the truth is if I go totally negative and assume every person is trying to screw me over from the first second I talk to them, I wouldn’t be able to motivate anyone to work for me or convince any customers my business is right for them. I have to open that door a little bit each time I meet someone and give them a chance before I judge them. It’s tough sometimes, but I have to do it to keep moving forward. Even after someone fucks me and I regret it.

You might be someone who keeps that door open wider than I do, but there is nothing wrong with that either. We all get burned sometimes no matter how we approach it. There is not just one right way to do it.

Keep your chin up, don’t overreact either way and decide what you next best move is. You’ll be ok:like:

You don't have to give your time and effort to people who have shown themselves unworthy but its not being gullible to give people the benefit of the doubt. Living that way is more satisfying for me then being angry all the time. Being cynical is easy, keeping a positive attitude while still being disappointed by others is difficult but worth it.

Having been in business for a long time I've run across plenty of people who tried to take advantage of me and a good number of them have succeeded but by being an honest man who does his best to treat others fairly I have also had some great mentors and opportunities I would have never had if it wasn't for being decent.

If I could do it over again I wouldnt do anything differently. The times I've been on the losing end of someone's greed pale in comparison to all the richness in life I have, the good people who surround me, because I am a man who tries to do right by others. Don't take what this guy did to you as a lesson to become a worse person, that won't bring you peace or satisfaction.
