R1T Max - locking configuration vs R1S Max

I have a preorder for R1T Max and a week ago got confirmation that it's time to "Time to lock it in" for configuration. I am assuming this means Max orders are getting ready. But I am actually looking for R1sMax and its not available yet, so not sure what would be my next steps here. I tried support, but was pointed to my region guide(yet to reach). I hate to loose the preorder pricing and at same time cant take a non max order R1S. Any inputs here ?. Thank you

It's unlikely that your preorder pricing for an R1T Max will port over to an R1S Max when (if?) they get around to building it.

I am curious of your pre-order date.
The R1S max is not yet a option therefore understandably will not be available for the pre-march pricing. Any reason you can't reconfigure to R1S & take the large pack? So many reasons to take a shop QM over the DM.
The R1S DM max will be at the very least least over a year away & at the very minimum $20K more (than pre march) for only 50miles extra range.

Your best bet is to speak with your Guide. Odd that you haven't been introduced to your guide and yet you've been asked to lock in your configuration. Advising you on your configuration and order is their whole purpose, including helping you switch between vehicle models, answering questions about pricing, and can you put your order on hold until the R1S Max is available so at least you can compare.

The R1S DM max will be at the very least least over a year away & at the very minimum $20K more (than pre march) for only 50miles extra range.

With my R1T Max Pack delivery window now Feb-Mar 2024, I'm also checking the .com each day to see if I can switch to an R1S Max Pack, and at what price. Rivian's website has said for months now that an R1S Max Pack will be "delivering" in Fall 2023, which would be by 12/20/2023, not just 'available' in the configurator. https://rivian.com/support/article/what-can-you-tell-me-about-the-r1s-dual-motor-awd-max-pack I suspect that date will be pushed back, but I'm hopeful it will at least appear in the Visualizer by then.

I have a feeling they'll open it up with the same $10k additional cost to everyone as they did with opening up dual motor R1S to pre-march pre-orders eventually.

TFLEV had a video just released on the R1T DM + Max. It showed 410 miles of range. In that video it was said they will be opening up R1S soon.

In the shop you can pick T or S. I think the only determining factor is if you do or do not have pre March 22 pricing. I would contact Rivian and discuss.

You "should" be able to change from a T to an S and not lose your pricing.

Take it from someone who has had a locked in max pack R1T config for over three years, don't get too excited.

Approaching 5 years on R1T max & it is not coming till next year. The R1S large packs are also back logged.
I would be baffled as to why they would put a unconfigurable model ahead of the year long back log of pre existing orders.

Profit. If they decide to still charge $10,000 for max pack when it's only a cell chemistry change, I'd be that it's almost entirely profit for every one of those they sell. It probably would be even at a $5k upcharge, which I'd argue is at least reasonable given the pricing jump from standard to large.
