I am moving to Korea in a few months and want to export my r1t to take with me. I was told by my broker that I will need a document called Safety Data Sheet but the customer service is not allowing me to ship it nor will provide me with this document.

I joined this forum to seek advise and help cause I don't know how to proceed. I am feeling rather stressed by this dilemma. Does anyone have any helpful tips on how I can get my hands on this document?

Very exciting to see you do this! I'm not an expert but there are a few posts here of people shipping their R1 to Europe and the Middle East. I don't recall this being an issue. I'd reach out to those guys first and get shipping contacts from them. They might have a different opinion/route. All the best!

Seems like an odd request an SDS would be for a chemical or substances. This is a car wonder if they want it for the battery maybe?

I think automobile SDS would be for any kind of fluid or material in the vehicle. Anything from washer fluid, CV grease, etc, down to what's in the paint, a/c system... Feels like an odd ask to me but who knows because it's not the first time someone has been looking here... Maybe it is just the first responders guide?

The number of safety datasheets for an EV would probably be the hundreds of documents possibly thousands. Every component that has a grease or lubricant on it would require an SDS. I have shipped large trailers of equipment via ship across oceans. Usually placed my items in cargo containers and sealed it. Made things much smoother. FYI. The battery on the EV may be tough as the shipper will most likely want the cargo up high so in the unlikely event of a fire it can be jettisoned into the water.

I think this is what it is. The broker explained that there has been a lot of EV fires on the container ships as of lately so they are really cracking down on documentations in the case of emergency.. I am guessing thats why they need the SDS for the car battery :(

Sounds like they're adding red tape to avoid or decrease risk and more work. As a red taper myself, I have to give them props, this is a big ask. Don't be surprised when they don't accept whatever you Do give them.
