Should Rivian have a big delivery event?

For this to happen, I would think that particular customer(s) would know all about the vehicle, including the EPA numbers. I think we need all this before any manufacturing is done, or at least I do. And, it needs to be disclosed this month, if deliveries are to be made.

The customer would only need that information to take delivery, not for Rivian to build the truck. Even if the original customer the truck was built for decides not to take delivery, it would still be a customer designated vehicle and there would surely be a different customer who would take delivery.

You're correct in all your statements. No doubt in my mind there are some that would buy pre-production vehicles. Appears to be such a demand, they could sell anything.

I wasn't trying to argue against your point Tim, but rather stating what I see as obvious, in that Rivian needs to disclose everything we need to know about their vehicle......this month, if they truly intend on manufacturing and delivering July 2021. To get this information out now, and start manufacturing this month, is cutting it very close unless they're already manufacturing and we don't know it. Right now, they can sell anything, unless the EPA numbers come in way low, but who would actually order without knowing this, so maybe Rivian already knows their numbers are good.

Yes there are specific reasons and mass-production of a new model is a complex process even for an established OEM.
