I figured I would start a new thread about how dogs and Rivians work together. I would guess that at least 75% Rivian owners have at least one dog they take with them on trips. Many have 2 or more and that means on average there is at least one dog per Rivian family on a per capita basis. Here is my 90 lb. Catahoula Leopard dog "SOOKIE" and her cage in a R1T back seat. This is a set up to allow her easy access to the top of the seat and not crowd her in with the seat folded. I though of removing the seat bottom but that is still a big jump up and you loose 2 seating positions when the dog is not tripping with you.

Frunk is plenty big enough.....

This thread is great! We have an instagram account dedicated to this exact subject matter ( @riviandogs ). If you are on IG, feel free to share these great shots of your pups and trucks there! We can also use the ones posted here and attribute to forum handles.

This photo is of our late frenchie Luna on a gear tunnel door of someone else's rivian about a year and a half ago.

Our 13-year old Spinone Italiano enjoyed her Blue Ridge adventures out of the R1S this last week.

After over 11 months she finally got to ride in the R1S... yes that fur is from one 30 minute trip.

The Count’s black robes and capes must be covered in that. Now I know how I will recognize you in public.

I’ve got two 70lb Transylvanian Hounds. I was looking into the heavy-duty super pricy crates but I couldn’t find a size that fits two big pups side by side. These inexpensive 30x 21 wire crates worked out better than expected- I can still see out the rear-view mirror (I’ve got a bike rack on the back so sensors are disabled and camera is blocked). To keep the crates from rubbing, I cut some pipe insulation and wrapped it around friction areas. I’ve got them secured in two spots with rope and the most expensive (but useful) purchase was my Canvas Back custom Rivian liners for easy dog hair clean up. Love this forum- someone posted all of the cargo dimensions somewhere and I found the secret “Toblerone” pocket in the front seats. (They also fit sunglasses in their case quite well -lol).

You must have good dogs. Every one I've ever lived with would chew through that rope in approximately 10 seconds.

My 1st Vizsla chewed through every doggie seat belt harness I bought until I bought a chainmail one, so he then proceeded to chew through my truck's actual seat belt! SMH

We had a Ridgeback that did the same thing. The seat belt is expensive to replace!

Yeah, luckily it was the 3rd row of a diesel Ford Excursion which I never replaced before finally selling it w/ 267k miles on it.

Lucky. In our old Honda Element I remember it being over $700 and that was back in 2008 or so. We were so poor then

My dogs love the Rivian almost as much as I do. They’ve never been so chill in a vehicle before. I was worried about them chewing on the rope and pipe insulation, but they are too busy snoozing and watching the world go by.
