New site (looks nearly complete) coming to Flagstaff, AZ. When this and the Biltmore location open, that'll be 7 in Arizona. Exact location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8b1a9NvdGeRAZZP5A. Thanks to Ray Plato of Rivian Owners of Phoenix (Facebook group) for the find.

Notable that this one looks so close and wasn’t on the coming soon map.

Yeah - makes me wonder why there's such secrecy around the locations. Just tell us where you're building them. Sheesh.

There's no secrecy; all these locations, like Flagstaff, are on the RAN buildout map (see post #1 in this thread). The "coming soon" locations are just things they expect will be done soon, but that has never meant those are the only ones they're working on. These things can take years to build sometimes, even for Tesla, and there are some things that Rivian has little or no control over, like the power company installing new transformers or transmission lines for example. Sometimes things go faster than expected, sometimes slower. You should be glad that Flagstaff is coming sooner than expected!

As an example, Tesla is putting in v3 supercharger near me. The permit was approved in early 2021 and it was supposed to go live (according to Tesla) by the end of 2021. Then they changed it to end of 2022, but they didn't start digging until January 2023, and the pedestals were put in place and bagged in February 2023. But it's still not open, and years later we now have some v4 going in elsewhere in the country, and some Magic Docks being put in some places, so by the time this supercharger does goes live it will be far from the latest technology. This is Tesla, which has everything figured out and has lots of practice, yet they're still not able to get it done in a timely manner because, I assume, of things out of their control. I don't expect the situation to be any better for Rivian - sometimes things are going to take longer than expected, other times things progress way more rapidly than expected.

Will confirm later tonight but Maumee, OH appears to online. It looked complete last Saturday but wasn't on and I had NAV try to route me to it earlier today. Pretty good location with plenty of amenities nearby.

This is a big help for those of us travelling from MI south along I-75 through the charging barren of OH!

Some news over the past few days:

Permits for the Shoshone RAN station have been located. I still don't know which business it's going to be at, although it's not like there are many options.

Irvine could be getting a site, although the permits are already 2 years old, and whether Rivian still plans on pursuing the site is kind of up in the air.

Flagstaff is getting a new site, and it's already under construction. That's gonna be great for GCNP travellers.

And finally, Monticello, Utah could be getting 4 charging stalls. I didn't realize how close this site actually was to Arches National Park (60mi) relative to Canyonlands (45mi).

Thanks for the update. Really appreciate it since I don't have Twitter.

I would charge up top 98% or so at the EA station in Ypsi and then hope I had a tailwind to make it down to Dayton.

Exactly. I was recently reading an article on the challenges of the grid in general, and the #1 bottleneck right now is transformers. If you order one now, the typical wait is 12-14 months minimum. I had relatives in another state that waited almost a year to move into their new home in a new neighborhood for the sole reason of no transformers were available for months. Throw in the typical local red tape, permitting, etc., and it's very easy to see how one of these can take a couple of years to progress from the planning stages to operation.

Good job they started planning back in 2031 when they announced 600 sites by end of 2023. You would assume orders for equipment went in then.

Thank you for all of the updates! They're amazing.

I'd be happy to help keep an eye out for permits, but have no idea where to look. Let me know if there's a way I could be supportive of this effort in some of my spare time.
