Well... It was gorgeous.. All the snow I was driving around in yesterday... She aint as purty as she was!

Need to sign up for one of those unlimited car washes.. Problem is, all the ones around me are the brushed type. I want brushless.

I currently am setting my battery to charge to 80%. I know this is not recommended, but until I get the L2 charger installed, I need to make sure I have battery to last for my needs, thru the week, with the L1 Trickle Charger.

Take it to 85% and don't stress. Hell take it to 92% until you get your charger installed. The BMS will take care of everything for you and Rivian has a little bit of buffer that is available so you'll never fully charge it.

70-80% was easy, but after 80%, the little L1 charger struggles. I put it on the L1 charger last night at 730p with 71%. By 1000A, it had only gotten to 83%. Then the update came in, and dropped it to 81%. After the update, it charged from 81% to 82% in 3 hours.

Temp may have an affect here too.. Its only 38* in garage. But its -6* outside. App shows if I set the charge to 100%, it will be at 97% by the time I go to work in the morning at 755a. Thats 18 hours from now.

Probably best to take it to 95% on L2 if L1 is struggling to take it above 85%.

Right now because of the cold weather, I am taking my charge to 90% - 95% in case I lose power and have to use the battery for energy or to camp in the vehicle.

I bought it to use as a tool and degradation is part of wear and tear that I am comfortable with.

I am glad that Rivian chose a large battery size to initially sell and honor the price on as well.

I feel much better this winter compared to last winter having the Rivian as a back-up source of power for my home or back up place to camp in / sleep for our small family.

I would only use the Riv power for entertainment really. Power a Internet Modem, Router, Desktop Computer maybe, TV, and Radio. The Desktop Computer, modem, and router are already on a Battery Backup, so I would only have to worry about them after 8 hours of a power outage. I have a fireplace in my Dining Room that is capable of heating the main part of the 1st floor. Might be sleeping on a sofa with the kids, but I will be warm and entertained!

I went ahead and bumped the charge level to 100%. It aint gonna get there. But it gives me a "just in case" buffer.

Literally my exact same setup as well with back up battery on desktop, modem / router and TV. Fireplace in the living room going on right now and Rivian charged up ready to go in case of any outages.

I would use the Rivian for the fridge mainly.

First real snow drive this morning was largely un-eventful. Got about a mile, and remembered I needed to put it into snow mode. Regen braking was to strong and causing sliding issues.

Its sitting outside getting snowed on currently.. The cab pre-conditioning seemed to work very well. I had it set for my departure at 755a. When my alarm went off at 715, it was already warming it up, and was at 58* interior temp. My garage is at 38*. Battery was at 92%, and by the time I left, it was at 87%. Got to work, 18 miles later, it was at 81%.

Test will be this evening to go home from work at 6pm. Have it set for a departure at 555p, and the current temp is -6*. Supposed to be -1* by then.

Hoping to have the L2 installed this weekend.

I hope I can get this L2 charger installed this weekend. The little trickle charger aint going to make it.

Supposedly the local Tesla Supercharger is a MagicDock, but it isnt showing up in the app.

Just confirmed it is NOT a MagicDock. Found one, but it aint exactly close. Might have to swing by it on Friday on my way home, and get it up to 80%. Its either that, or charge at my local government center, which is a L1/6.6kwh charger, would just have to leave it for many hours.

I still dont understand this whole L1/L2/L3 charger nomenclature.

Finally figured out how to use the windshield washers, and turn off the auto wipers..

Hopefully someone can answer. My front washers, it appears that I have 3 jets across the front of the windshield, but the jets only make it about 1-3 inchs up the glass. Is this supposed to be like this?

Also, I thought there was a interior camera just above the rear view mirror? Are they not installing these anymore?

I still dont understand this whole L1/L2/L3 charger nomenclature.

It's as easy as 1,2,3.

L1 - Level 1 is at 120 Volts Ac (regular house outlet) great for coffee pots, microwaves and TVs but not the best for an EV.

L2 - Level 2 is at 240 Volts AC (think electric oven or water heater). Can get more volts and amps than on 120, hence it charges faster than L1.

L3 - Level 3 is DC voltage, not AC like L1 and L2. Does not use the onboard AC charger of the Rivian, instead it connects direct to the battery and can charge much faster than L2.
