While this is great information, I don't think we're going to know how this actually stacks up until someone independently does a 70mph test, like Inside EVs.

Also, FWIW, the Mach E AWD / RWD had a range differential of 2 miles when tested at 70mph. Anyone who is hoping for magic by moving to 2wd only here probably isn't going to find it.

At least I can use these numbers to play with ABRP and compare 21s vs 20s on my route.

One more item because people seem to be posting it over and over here. Rule #1 when buying anything:

Never, ever buy a product today based on promises of functionality or updates tomorrow.

It's rated at 314 miles. They might be able to increase the in the future. Anyone who buys a Rivian expecting this is setting themselves up for disappointment. It could just as easily end up in the same pile as the 180 degree tailgate, electrochromic roof, or Lidar.

It's a 75k truck
Do we care how much it cost to get from AtoB
And if you want to play the range game take a big poop wear as little clothing as possible bring no luggage
Come on how often do you go 300 miles a day
Just my opinion

Yeah that top line really hurt me in the feelz
I wonder if they had *different* 20" rims that the range could be extended? Lighter materials for the rim such as magnesium or titanium (I've used both before, they're great but super expensive compared to alloys or steelies). Or perhaps a different design that creates less turbulence (I mean you could test it by covering the entire rim with a flat plastic disc but that would look incredibly lame)
Its great that the EPA actually rated the car at 14mph above what Rivian was advertising. That shows their estimates are conservative and more importantly, the company is trustworthy.

But damn, I did want those 20" rims... I may just buy with the 21's and then buy a set of off road rims locally and put them on only when I want to offroad...
It's the AT tires - this has nothing to do with the size. If anything, the 20's should be slightly more efficient if you match the tire compound and tread pattern as the 21's since they're likely to weigh less.

Well, just to make things a little more interesting, I spoke with CS today and they said there was no 2WD Conserve Mode

Since I want to keep my 20s, looks like I'll have to do an stop on a 250 mile run, does anyone know if I can use the restroom of a Sam's club, or I need a membership to get in ?

I will also say. Every car I have owned in the last decade has exceeded its EPA rating in real world driving. Guess it will depend a great deal on ones driving style

I appreciate the AT tires they chose, but it would be nice to have a slightly less aggressive option that would increase range, due to decreased rolling resistance, while still providing fair off road performance. The 21" tires don't seem to be that option. It seems the only option is to decide on a different 20" tire when the originals wear out.

Regen braking doesn’t add any range to city driving. None
I'm going to have to completely disagree with you. I think maybe your car is still applying regenerative braking when you press on the brake, even if you turn off the automatic regenerative braking (when you let off the throttle).

From basic physics it makes no sense that recapturing kinetic energy into the batteries instead of releasing it into heat through the brakes wouldn't improve overall efficiency.

Look. The Regen braking slows the car during city driving. There just isn’t enough there to add anything measurable. Zero help. It’s like a 6’’x6’’ solar panel to your roof. Is is collecting sunlight? I guess. Is it adding range to your truck? No.
